well fellas ;D, thanks a lot for the positive comments ;D Managed to make a start today...primed the lower and upperhull on tuesday and today a first go at Enamel paints...man, they smell even worse than Tamiya paints ;D. After the initial paintwork I realised I forgot the planned preshade...figures ;D Anywhoo, this is how she stands at the moment (keep in mind though, some color modulation will follow later on) Cheers

Nice paint job!! Am already seeing some modulation. No kidding about enamel paints... that's why I am in process of replacing them all with acrylic paints.

Thanks Dan...well, just taking the easy way I guess: I heard good things about the MM paints and they had the Israeli color in their range, so it was an easy choice ;D
Cheers

Jack, thanks partner! Hiya Tolga, nice to see you pop in again! Thanks, and I can't wait as well ;D, three weeks before closing time...hope I make it Hiya Jaymes, thanks bud, no final paintwork though, some more layers to come I've been busy with the Merk a bit. I gave the lower hull some Vallejo Satin Varnish layer and put the license plate decal in place...after that I could add the extra armor plate on the front. Wheels received a MIG Brown Wash...now this is when desaster struck a bit: apparantly the layers of varnish weren't sufficient, because when I removed the excess wash with some AK White Spirit some of the paint came with it!!!! . No big harm done though, I need to cover that up with dust later on anyway ;D. Lesson learned about working with enamels though. If you look closely you can see the spots of removed paint on the wheel I primed the turret but noticed that I didn't do a proper 'sanding smooth' job, so I brushed on some Mr. Surfacer 1000 and when it's dry I'll sand it again. oh, and errr, those balls are a pain in the you know what to paint ;D ;D ;D edit: btw: Jaymes: do you actually ever read your inbox mate? ;D Cheers

Good having you back! Nice work on the wheels... one thing I like about Mr Surfacer it is so easy to sand and prime again as much as you wish.

Nice to see you back wouts! Is the Vallejo Satin Varnish an acrylic product or lacquer-based? If it's lacquer based, that might be the cause of your trouble with the paint lifting.

Thanks a lot Robbo, quite pleased indeed Thanks Andy, yeah, life's been busy, especially workwise, so glad to be able to continue a bit ^^. Thanks for the info 'bout the Mr. Surfacer btw Hiya Bill, the Vallejo varnish is an acrylic. I chose that one because I knew I had to protect the enamel coat, but apparantly I had to spray on more than two layers Cheers

Sounds like that might be the reason wouts...some varnishes/sealers go on very thin and can't take much in the way of abuse when it comes to weathering. I've even had that happen with Future on occasion if there's a recessed spot that didn't quite get an even coat for example.
