Sure am Tony i have neglected her for too long !! Thanks Bill comment much appreciated . Armourguy i impressed myself too with them battle scars i used a hot drill bit soldering iron and scalpel if anyone is interested Dan B Dan she's a beaut ! Your setting at a level i want to get too . The battle damage is the best . I had to look back and see how you achieved it . It adds so much to the story . Did you heat the drill bit separately with the soldering iron or attach it in the iron ? I'm asking because i'm wanting to get this look figured out . That is some cool stuff !

Thanks for all the positive comments boys i have been away for a few days sorry for not replying sooner Shellback: concerning the battle damage 1st up i heated a drill bit lightly touched the model gave it a little twist to get the circular shape this was then left to cool. 2nd stage get a soldering iron and lightly touch the outer edge of the dent you have just made with the drill bit this gives the melted metal effect. 3rd stage with a scalpel i stabbed around the shell hole to give the effect of schrapnel damage concentrate this effect near the top of the shell hole. if this makes no sense i could do a quick SBS in this thread if this helps mate? Sorry for slow progress on this as i have illnesses in the family and im jobless prioritys are elsewhere at the moment i should have an update soon..... Dan B

I'm sorry to hear you have ongoing probs, Dan If you have time, I'll be glad to see the SBS. I think I got right the process, but seeing is much better than reading...

Right heres a quick SBS on how i achieved my battle scars The test vehicle for tonights demonstration..... The tools you will need. To make the basic shape of the shell hole i used a 3mm drill bit heated the tip with a lighter then lightly touched the tank then i turned the bit 180 degrees dont turn it anymore as this will go right through the tank and ruin the effect let this cool and trim any bits your unhappy with. For the next stage i used a pointed tip soldering iron and lightly touched round the edge of the indent this can be easily overdone so go easy on this bit you only want to use this step to get rid of the round shape of the drill bit. Next and final stage is using a scalpel to replicate the scarring around these impact areas the small dots are the molten fragments of steel created during the shell meeting the tank these marks are more apparent around the top of a shell hole due to the angles of armour its simple to recreate just use the tip of the knife in a tapping motion. To create shell damage that has hit the tank at angle i used a soldering iron only i tipped the iron over at a 45 degree angle to the tank and gently dragged the iron across the surface once your happy with it use the scalpel again as in the above stages. The end results Hope this can help a few people. Dan B

Nice work bro, and don't mind the macroshots, that's what we modellers love ;D
gotta remember this thread for sure. My initial Tiger B has to be place in a bomb crater some day and this is a nice way of replicating soil
Cheers
