All of the dust/mud buildup with the pigments looks spot on.
Sweet!

Wouter, awesome looking III! Chipping treatment is exceptional. I thought is was looking great before the weathering, but you've take it to a higher level with the dirt, mud and streaking. You've raised the bar high with this one. Great job!

Mister Deaf! Thanks bro!!! Guy, thanks mate, and no, I didn't go, LOL HI Bill, thanks glad you like it! smudge, why thanks mucker! ^^ Some progress again...decided to continue the muffler. A couple of months ago, I painted it with Burn Siena oil paint, and dabbed some MIG rust pigments in the still wet paint. I thought it looked ok, but not good enough. So I used the spongue tech using some of the paints of AK's Rust set. Looks better I think the upperhull sides receive some streaks...using AK Streaking Grime and Winter Streaking Grime...hard to catch the result on photo though tools were painted as well ('bout time ) and that's about it for today I guess Cheers I never like it when i post pics and they end up being the last post on the previouse page , so here it is and i can see what everyone is talking about . Your weathering is looking spectacular Wouts !

Hi Leon and jackwagon, thank gents! ^^ jackwagon, don't worry mate, with a gazillion blogs goin' on here, it's hard to catch up with everything...pretty sure I can't Time for another update. I've been working on the front and rear lower hull. Yesterday I splattered a mixture of Europe Earth and thinner to the lower sides using an airbrush. Today, I loaded a short bristled brush with different AK products and splattered some more stains to the lower hull to create some more interest Recently I came across something which was new for me. It's a technique which Rick Lawler of AK Interactive used on his latest StuG build over at the AK blog: First, apply some AK Afrika Dust Effects in areas where you want a dust build up, like on the upper hull and fenders: After a minute or so, I took a dry flat brush and stomped the Dust Effects, feathering the edges. The result is a very subtle dust effect. A new technique to me, but very effective, and more importantly; easy to do. If you're not happy you can remove the AK product using some white spirit I also added more grime on different hatches and parts of the fenders to create more interest. The technique used with the Afrika Dust Effects was repeated with Dust Effects and Earth Effects. It's not very clear in the photo but there are some contrasts between different parts of the PzIII That's it for today! Cheers

Hi Eddy, thanks for that Smudge, thanks bro...make sure you mention my name when buying AK stuff, maybe they'll send me some cash Hi Bill, thanks...yeah, I must say I'm really enjoying adding all those layers...hope I don't go too far...'restraint' weathering was my initial planning on this one jackwagon, thanks partner! I think you could do that with pigments and spirits as well...many modellers are doing it like that many years and that was my initial plan untill I came across Rick Lawlers tech. I must say using the enamel is a bit easier and more forgiving I think. I'm quite new to the world of pigments (except for mud applications) and it still scares me a bit since you could cover all your previous work. Having that said, I might do a second session with some pigments as well to create even more variety. That's the great thing of our hobby I think, so many ways to achieve a similar result ^^ Cheers

Love that AK stuff... at first I found it to be overpowering if you apply too much. So gonna do little at a time. Great step by step toot as usual... you rock!

Heya fellas...glad to read that you guys like the progress, as well as the SBS, thanks for that! Did a bit more this evening. I started to work a bit more with pigments. First, around the turret ring I thought it could some pigment application on top of the Afrika Dust Effects...so I added some pigments dry After that I added some MIG pigment fixer and mixed the pigments a bit more It hasn't dried yet so no photos of the result though. I added some light pigment application to some other areas like the lower parts of the hull and the fenders. I tried not too cover the previous weathering effects. It's quite easy to overdo it, hope I didn't... Turret was put in place to show the difference between the pretty much unweathered turret and the weathered hull That's all folks! Cheers

thanks a lot for your gentle comments, gentlemen! I must say I find it hard to capture all the weathery subtleties on photo...not too easy Anywhoo...the pigments which I applied with the fixer have dried, and I have toned them down with some more...errm, pigments . I also added some grease stains. Some details which I hadn't put in place before are now attached (cupola hatches, antenna support thingy) and this is how it looks now it seems btw, that there's a serious PzIII Fest going on here onsite Cheers

Pz IIIs are the new Tiger, at least for the moment! Nice progress on the details. I'm seriously contemplating a III as my next project even as we speak.
