AHHHH! THANKS for the tip! I noticed the gap when I built mine very recently... too late now. LOL From now on there should be no gap between the turret and cupola...
Great work on the details... no hurry... no pressure! Oh did I ever tell you my Tiggy finally has paint on? LOL

Wow!!! Yer have nice nuts Wouts Great work.......do you love Tigers by any chance? ? glad I knew what you are talking about, otherwise I'd call the cops ;D. Thanks bro . And yeah...it seems so...dunno why, don't have a reasonable explanation. My first kit was a KT and up till today I still can't tell why I choose that one. I guess lot of this is because of Bill and Phill Appleyard I guess...curse them!!!!! ;D ;D Cheers

Impressive, Wouts, it's shaping up quite well. For what it's worth I always call those things you sanded down locater tabs for the lack of anything better.

Just saw the new name of the thread. Are you calling me? But who's hatch? Still great work.

thanks Bill, glad you like the fix ^^ Mark, thanks bro...and indeed...locater tabs is the best term which I read accross the net, thanks for that ;D wingnut...errrm...hatch...wasn't that one of the Autobots? ... ;D again some updatey stuff I reckon. I put the smoke dischargers in place and added the hatch (not the Autobot ) to the commanders cupola. Some etch detail was added, as well as two small pieces of wire, which in fact were hollow rods to support a rainshield for the commander. It's something which is very often forgotten and usually not provided in the kits, nor AM products I also need to fill two drain holes and redrill them since these two aren't quite round... almost finished buildwise you say? Not quite Still need to do the turret bin, and I'm going to depict either number 243 or 241, since they stick out in the whole lot I think...they have a sh$tload of jerrycans stacked to the turret well, that's it for now ^^ Cheers

My vote's for #243...because of the number and different colors of the jerry cans clearly evident...provides more visual contrast!

Loving your Tiggy!!! Looks like you should go for 243 because you already have rack for spare tracks on the front because 241 doesn't. I always find spare tracks on front hull so sexy... don't you agree?

I wonder what the back story is on those pictures. Obviously a rear area, and boy, do those guys look cold and bored!

thanks for the vote on 243 fellas...will go for her, allthough I only have decs for 241 it won't be too hard to make 243 out of it since number three is provided on the sheet as well I had a couple of hours to assemble the Tasca Jerrycans today. I must say I like them very very much! Very well moulded, and the thin rib between the two halves isn't a piece of thin etch like with the Dragon offerings, but a thin piece of lasercut paper. I will try to fetch some more of these sets since I didn't have enough jerry's. One set is underway from LuckyModel, but it takes VERY long to get here So I temporary used some not too good resin ones. I also glued three pieces of strip styrene together to simulate the wooden planks which were visible on the turret to hold the jerrycans, I scored some wood grain into it, but that's not visible on the photos. A smaller strip of styrene was also added in front of the jerrycans. the styrene pieces were educated guesses since it isn't too clear on the photos. Still have to figure out how the jerrycans were kept onto the turret in stead of falling from the sides. Can't figure it out on the photo... well, that's it for now again! Cheers

AWESOME! Just AWESOME! Germans never cease to amaze me... it will take only one small bullet to start a fire if I can hit one of those jerry cans on the top. LOL
I can't figure out how they are able to stay atop either. I will look thru my books to see if I can find something...

Hey Wouts, The Jerry cans look fantastic on top! Very cool. Man the Germans would stick fuel anywhere huh! Wish i could help on how they secured them there as like Carl....i cant see a darn thing! Gary

I enhanced those pics on the previouse page to try to see more detail . There appears to be a board or angle iron running across of the top of these jerry cans in this pic . Here there is a shadow from something overhanging the top of the jerry can at the front . Also it looks like the one on the end is marked with a white cross for it containing water ? Still cant tell whats holding the sides in .

thanks for the comments fellas Carl, thanks for that mate, indeed, the top run jerry's are contained by what seems a metal strip or so, but the lower ones seem to sit loose. Righto about the water jerry's mate, I also added a mix between fuel and water jerry cans. I'll try to simulate some small strips then...hope I can manage that ;D again, thanks for enhancing the shots...how did you do that? It's impressive Cheers

This is turning out exactly as I hoped it would! Looking pretty sharp there Wouts! The question on the side retention is an interesting one. Full jerry cans weigh in at roughly 45 lbs each and the turret roof is sloped, so gravity and the retention planks/metal racks would do a pretty good job of containing them depending...but something would be needed to hold the end caps in place...but damned if I can figure it out from the photos. There doesn't seem to be a strap or anything like that so the only other conclusion would be some kind of small rail perhaps at the base of the cans? The world wonders....

Wouts , i used windows live photo gallery and the editing program there . I manipulted the contrast and the sharpened the detail .that made more definition between the variouse shades of gray in the pic .Same on both pics but on the bottom one i also resized and cropped the pic . My fun ;D

thanks for that Bill, and I like your insights on the jerry's, makes sense indeed. It seems that on the upper jerrycan run there is some kind of strap visible on top, but not on the lower ones. Maybe I'll use some artistic license and add some 'stops' on the sides of the turret roof to prevent the jerrycans tipping over on the sides I added the turret bin, it's one of the things I find the hardest to assemble and get right. Also, the turret bin isn't fitting the turrets round shape 100% perfect, maybe because it's for the Tamiya offering...Also added a SKP helmet one of the smoke dischargers. It's not final though Find out that the smoke shells could be fired independent in stead of all together...so Andy, new thing learned indeed, I never thought about that (I wanted to get an assembled photo with the shot of my Tiger I and the black and white which Carl enhanced together in one photo, but I didn't know how to do that...oh well Cheers
