Looking good Marc! Never had an issue like that with the Tamiya paints but I always use their thinner, the X-20A. Kind of pricey but it always works for me. No need in jinking around with the paint that might lead to problems. I don't need any extra help in causing problems.

Thanks for all the comments my friends. I am convinced that the lacquer thinner formula must have changed. Returned the can I had just bought and bought another form a different store... different batch.. same results. Been using alcohol and all is well with the world. Agree the PE sheet is mostly useless. Painting camo sure is easy when you don't really care too much about the look and over spray etc.. This is all the base for the white wash. And to be honest, taking the pressure off and it turned out pretty good i think and took about 3 minutes. A test fit of the schurzen too.

Nice and tidy spraying there. Overspray looks virtually nonexistent on it.....besides, you can make the claim that the camo pattern was done in a field shop where they didn't have the luxury of templates.

Pretty colors there Marc! Almost a shame to have it disappear under the w/w but will provide a fine base for what's to come!

Tjhansk guys... appreciate the comments. Yeah Bill, as I look at this sitting on the bench thoughts of cleaning up some of the edges and going 3 color camo dance in my head. Or is that still the thoughts of sugar plums?

Spent the day at the bench working at the white wash. And it was work. I sprayed the white, over the dry hairspray, last night to be ready for today. i have never waited that long and it was VERY hard to get off. So here is it and want some real honest opinions. What do you think? No washes at all yet so that's still to come.

While it has a monotone feel to it at this point as you say it's not done. For what it's worth I think it's just about where you want to be at this stage, further dirt and various goo applications you've demonstrated you know how to do well will make it shine.
Regards, Mark

Thanks you all for the encouragement. I am glad I don't Windex the whole thing. If I didn't already say it... it was more that it was not what I envisioned than not liking it but I moved on. I applied some AK winter streaking grime. It's greener that the color the bottle describes. And much thinner than it appears in the videos too. I do like the way it had the effect of a pin wash between the squares of the zim. The top is the pic form above a previous post the grime. I've started going over the entire model adding some highlights/contrast to the zimmed surface. Little dabs of white oil paint was touched to the lightest spots in each square then "stumped" as the AK videos calls it. The right side of the pic shows the effects. It's subtle but I am really liking the way it's turning out. The 2nd pic is another before/after. I plan to go back again and do some at random instead every tile. Don't think I am going to do much more than that.
