Hi everyone! As you probably guessed from the title, I have started to make a "Waffy" (ill just call it that as its easer than adding the รค all the time ). I will probably incorporate it with the Tamiya "Dragon Wagon" that I'm getting for Xmas, so stay tuned for battle damage! I'll do my best to post pics and what I think of the kit later (as I'm writing this from my iPod at 7:30am). Please feel free to comment and suggest things that I should do with the kit(s). -Oliver

Oliver that is one heck of an idea. I've seen most of the standard AFV's on the Wagon, but not a late war-paperpanzer type FV. Look forward to seeing how this comes along.

Thanks Steve and Rob . It's getting there - next i'll do some sanding, add some more extra parts (the kit literally has 4 sprues of extras!), and then make the wheels. I'm not sure ATM if I'll get fruils or just leave the tracks off. I just hope that I don't just work on this To the exclusion of all else, as I have the KV-1S and sturmie to work on. -Oliver

Thanks Dicky, Spud and Andy . My mum was actually the one that thought the basic idea up LOL - I had a vague idea, but she then suggested it . My bench was actually clean 4 hours(ish) before I took those pics (I'm so good at keeping things tidy ). @ Spud and Andy, I myself was slightly doubtful that it turned, but did some research (I forgot where already ) and it does. I combined parts of the gun from the Nashorn that was on a sprue with the ones from the kit - I guess that they just have to feed the gunner a lot to act as a counterweight . Pics: My modeling space: And, finally, some pics of the tank so far (I might leave it as-is and paint soon): The main thing that I did was make a hatch for the driver's box/room/thing (even with superglue, it took a while, as the front roof part isn't attached the the main tank yet!). Next up is painting, unless anyone has any ideas for what else i should add (I'm open to suggestions!). -Oliver

SEVEN inches!!! Now I want to get this kit... thanks a lot! Normally I don't get those paper panzers or odd variants but I really like its look for sure.
Nice workspace you got! You must be lucky to have plenty of firewood to keep you warm past the doomsday! LOL
Keep up with the good work!

Thanks again everyone! It's getting there nicely . I've been staying up to 11ish working on It usually (school lets out at 2:15 and I get home 15 mins later).my parents aren't complaining though, as I'm not on the computer. @ Andy, it's quite a fun kit, although assembling the turret walls is interesting as they're so thin. The roadwheels are also from 1998. About the wood, we have a woodstove in our house as it saves a lot of $$ as we pretty Much never use the furnace. Our power also goes out every once in a while. About the paint, I will do some hull red or rust over the whole model and a thin layer of mettalizers to give it shine. After that I will do something like a "dazzle" scheme or something similar. -Oliver

Thanks, Bill It's the first real "paper panzer" that I've ever made - I might get a E75 flakpanzer from the hobby shop next, as I'm really liking the pap-panz's. Now for a quick update. I might use one of the metallizers that I have as the underlying basecoat (rather than heavy rust), as the Waffy wouldn't have been in service for long, being a prototype. If they are not rusty enough, I'll probably add a bit of hull red or burnt sienna, as if would still be somewhat shiny (late in the war, they wouldn't/might not have much primer left, preferring to just paint on the metal). A pic with different metallizers that I have (ill airbrush the real thing, bbut this will never be seen, as its on the bottom of the turret): And a Waffy pic I found: Hope you like it so far! -Oliver

Alright, here's the better (I hope) pictures: Unfortunately, the realistic "sheen" makes it quite hard to take photos that come out looking as it really is. I tried though -Oliver

LOL! Nice pic of Darth Vader! Looks like everybody was busy looking out of their windows wondering if today is the doomsday or not. But I know some men are out doing last minute shopping for their wives like myself and Carl.

I had missed this thread, clean and neat build, Oliver. I really like the outcome.
Is it a rust base or a primer?
I'm no expert in painting rustbuckets, but I think yours looks a little too shiny for the rust I know. Is that wanted?
