Another update. I've now repAinted the gun (didn't like the look of the chipping) and clear coated it, painted the chassis a better rust shade, and repAinted the "cabin" white, which is more accurate. The only problem is that the white crazed in some places - would anyone have tips for removing it from the affected areas so I can respray? Would just rubbing with a thinner laden paintbrush work, as the white is not yet sealed? Pics: -Oliver

Sorry to hear about the paint crazing Oli! Thinner will strip paint even if it's cured, you may have to scrub a bit with the brush but since it's crazed that's not likely to require much effort to remove it. I'm assuming you used enamels?

Thanks, Bill . I'll give it a try tomorrow. Nope, I wasn't using enamels - they were acrylics. My best guess why the craze is that I tried to dry brush some acrylics on those areas before the repaint - i also did the same to the grated circular bit though, and it's fine. One of those things, I suppose - My 1st repaint, actually .

Oh, And i will try to complete the gun tomorrow, and the cabin as well if possible. i may also basecoat the tank and HS chip. It's nice having 4 assemblies (turret, gun, chassis, and wheels) to work on, so i can work on at least one thing while the rest is drying. I also need to make some more progress on the fruils - have about 13 links done so far.

Got a bit more done not really enough for pics though. I clear coated the repainted body and wheels, gave the gun a wash, and have just resprayed the cabin - I' not liking how it looks, however, and may do it in another shade tomorrow once it's dry, as I'm out of white.

Anyways, im lovin what im seeing Oli and i have to ask....givin your age, how you model on such a high level...Alot of practise, trial and error, Study other builders? Just impressive what you do and i only wish i were doing this when i were your age. I am rebookmarking and will see if i get an email notice next post. Gary

Thanks, Gary . The bookmark thing is weird, hmm... Glad you think I'm doing well . I just find this very fun, and imitate techniques that i see elsewhere, etc. I've been getting better recently - the chipping on this is better than the 1S already (IMO). Thanks again for looking, gary!

Oli....as a Mod,I do look in on a lot of threads, but I only usually comment on subjects I know about,or that I can help or add to.This may be a failing on my part, but it does not detract from the talent you undoubtably seem to have!!!The techniques you are using, and the vehicles you are in the process of building,I know little or nothing about....but it doesn't stop me looking in.

Thanks guys . Glad you like it so far. I'll try to reply to each of you. here we go: @ Sollie, - Thanks, THe hairspray method is very useful. I think that I may be toning it down a bit with the application of other colours while i will hs chip them as well, some of the rusty colour will be hidden. @ Leon - Thanks! @ Nemo - Fair enough . I do the same as well sometimes. Glad you like my explanation - I wanted to make it a bit different, and you guys are the ones to ask if i'm not sure how realistic something is . About the factory environment, I really like the idea - any suggestions of how i would make a vignette like that on the base i have? I'll post pics below. I cant hold a candle to you guys, but im improving . @ Chris - I'm guilty of that as well - If i posted in every awesome thing i saw, i'd have 2-3k posts already . looking at the forums from my ipod a fair bit also doesn't help, as the keyboard is tiny. Glad you like it as well . @ Bill - I'm happy to be back on it too . I'm gradually working on my unfinished projects- I think that next up will be the Sturmie, once I finish this. Alright, I just sprayed some gun metal into the turret - The crew would have ben walking around there a lot, so any bare metal would be shinier - i will tone it down a fir bit though, as it is WAY too shiny ATM. Pics (sorry for the awful pic, the paintjob is better than that, I promise ): And the base i made in tech class: As I said above, any suggestions for a factory vignette would be much appreciated - maybe I could cover the top with sheet styrene squares to imitate tiles, etc and then go from there? As always, thanks for looking! -Oliver

Nice looking wood base... far better than what you can buy at Michael's or Hobby Lobby believe me! Sorry things were crazy since the show... still following your work as usual.

Thanks Andy . It only took me 10mins in tech class with a router and belt sander, and it didn't cost me a cent . Once I get home from school, I think I will add hs and then paint the interior (yet again...). While that dries ill think up what camo I want to do. -Oliver

Some ideas (would be modified); I really like the last one, but I'd have to change it a bit to account for the basecolour.

Thanks Guys . I decided to do something kinda similar to the tiger I - i went for straight edge though. Pics: There are, however, a couple of areas that need a little bit of touchup: They shouldn't be too much of a problem. I'm not sure if i should stick with this camo, or add a 3rd colour - any ideas? Thanks for looking! -Oliver
