oh, after all those tracks came in handy though...I have a (stalled) build of an Initial Tiger II in Normandy, and those had that type of track. Spared me the time of assembling them ;D If I'm not mistaken Friuls have instructions, a small sheet with no photos... Cheers

Wouts , yes , a small sheet with generic instructions . I figured for the price they could of had some instructions more specific to the tracks as these had 5 parts to each 2 links . Oh , i figured it out with that nice picture of the tracks that i posted here earlier .

I wasnot happy with the way the interlocking armor plates turned out on the front of the casement . Partly do to poor kit design and me getting in a hurry the seams came out sloppy .I reworked them with some masking and more glazing putty . all of this handling is why i havent attahed the upper and lower hull together yet . I masked off the ends of the armor plate where the torch cuts are and spread putty over it all .I had to cover all of the imperfections that were there caused by the plastic parts having a seam in the welds .Poor choice of placement for the seams imo . Then i sanded off the putty , cut along the tape edge and removed the tape . This covered the junk and left a nice edge .Hopefully it will look good when painted .

Looks just fine and will after paint also, I have confidence in this as I've not seen anything yet from you that has not. Exceptionally clever fix.

I'm glueing the super structure to the hull now . While that cures i assembled some of the Friul tracks , tediouse , but i like the results . I soaked all of the parts ,along with the straight pins , in black petina b4 assembly . When i get enough links together i'll cut off the pin ends with a cutting disc in a dremel . The bare metal link on the right is how they look out of the box . On the bare metel link at the right you'll see two guide teeth . On the actual tank the inside guide tooth was cut off with a torch . The problem was that it caused jamming of the tracks . Soooo i cut off all of the inside guide teeth and ground the surface down . Repeat this until done or till you start mumbling to your dog ...........hmmm , i do that daily as it is now ;D

Andy , they do look realistic dont they. I'm happy with the way the dress pins are working also . They make a sturdy hing . I think the brass wire that comes with the track set might be a bit flimsy . Thanks for the advice on using the pins . Funny thing , i found them in a grocery store while Janice was getting vegies .I thought i was going to have too look in a fabric shop for them . Thanks bro .

Hey guys thanks a bushel for all of the great comments ;D. The results with the petina surprised me also . The trick is to do all of the links separately , b4 assembly i mean . The tracks could be assembled fully in their bar metal state and then the Petina could be brushed over them but i think that would eliminate the slightly different appearance from one link to the next . Here's a pic of the stuff . This one is made in Canada . My wife makes stained glass windows and this stuff also comes in a solution that turns lead and solder into a copper look . The petina is a clear blue .First i cleaned the metal parts by soaking them in a bottle filled with lacquer thinner .not sure if thats the name of it outside the states .Then I put some petina in an empty Tamiya paint bottle and filled it with the parts . The petina works fast and when the parts were black as they would get (takes a couple of minutes) i removed them with a tweezers and let them dry . the petina is only good for a couple of cycles of filling the bottle with the metal parts and then it wont do any more blackening .Then its time to dump that and refill . I didnt get any burns and i could not smell any fumes . The unused petina i dumped into another empty bottle . It looks like a rust colore wash i might keep and try for rust effects later . Prof , good to read you like the look . Woots , thanks for that ! ;D Dan , thanks for the comment . I hope the above answers any questions , any more questions just let me know . Dicky , LOL ! Thanks , good to hear you like the results of my madness ! ;D Luigi , they aint that bad . time consumming yes , but the results are well worth the expense and time ..imo . I'll still be using the plastic sets but this is something of a treat for me .
