Marc,it really looks great.
I still used that method for the road wheels, you showed rolling them in metallic paint, but next time I will try it with pigments.

Stunning work!!! Now I want to cut my finger so I can build my KT just like yours. Is that the secret weapon you got? Really dig the hanging tow cable in the rear too!

Thanks to all for yuo's guys... from New Joisey.. remember? ... for all the comments/compliments. Anthony, if I'm there... it's there too. Andy, I make no claims as to the validity of the secret weapon theory . Pealer? Mucker? 17 years working with Brits and it appear i still have a lot to learn... or unlearn as the case may be John, I thought I had posted about the cables here. Seems I didn't. Here's the post on FSM.. The thin tracks cable is made the same way from wire that's used for security systems.. cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/3/t/151443.aspx

Well done Wingy. Impressive build. I particularly like the ground level shot you have there. Makes the whole thing look heavy like a real KT.

Hi Mike, Thanks for the comments. Started the base this morning. After get the picture frame all taped up and the inside moisture proofed with aluminum foil and tape, I mixed up a bath of Durham's Rock Hard Water Putty and filled the frame. While still wet, and after a bit of flattening, it was covered with a layer of the dry powder. I made a wheel from a few of the kits tracks links. After the putty set for about 30 minutes, I shook off most of the loose powder and rolled the wheel over the surface to make the tank track in the ground. After I did that I took the model and pressed it good in what will be the final position so when I put it on the finished base it will be in the...er... (ahem)... final position Once the putty hardens the loose powder is brushed of and it leaves a nice pebbly looking surface ready for some grass.

That wheel is a cool idea! Might have to make me one if I have any tracks left over!

That's a clever idea of using spare track links to make a wheel. Can I borrow this idea if I may?

Thanks guys. Glad you like the idea of the wheel. John, if oyu don't have enough i have all the track left beside what i used for the wheels so I think i can spare a few...or a lot Darren, that's the idea my friend. Borrow 'til your heart's content

Phil, Carl... thanks guys. Carl... just missed ya by minutes. That ones easy... The chicken. Painted and ready for some grass. Gonna try my hand at some of those tufts. 1st is an all over coat of MM Military Brown. Because of the texture it takes a fair amount of paint because you really need to spray form all 1 side for coverage. That texture in your favor for the next step. MM Burnt Umber sprayed at as flat an angle as you can get. It creates a nice effect when viewed from different angles. The 2nd pic are shots from opposite sides.
