Bill, Gary and Andy thanks a lot Bill I use a softbox, so the diffuse lighting is something that's easy to achieve. But it softens the light much more than I thought, so I'll try to compensate it with brighter lights. I'm also thinking of changing the shape of the reflector to diffuse lighting on a larger area...

I don't know what you are using for your pictures, but if possible, a change in the settings may solve your lighting problems.
The build is looking good. After seeing your work on this, you should have no problems with that other kit we discussed.

Thanks afvfan I tried to tweak the settings of my compact camera and I managed to get these pics: They look a little clearer, I think. Again, suggestions and comments welcome.

There you go Bull, much much better.
That looks great sir. I have more trouble making an engine look right and I really have to work at it.
Nice techniques have worked for sure Tony lee

2nd round of pics is much better Luigi and really shows up the detail and painting more. Camera's are finicky creatures...each one has its own 'preferred' settings for operation and lighting, so once you find what works, write it down so you can remember in the event you ever switch out to do other things besides model photos. ;D

That damn camera had decided that the white was too bright and it needed less exposure time than what was really needed. I had to use an exposure time of 1/4 instead of 1/16...

I changed the background and started the cab. To test the background and, most of all, to show you how little of the engine could be seen with the bonnet (hood) open, I took these pics: I hope to have some more bench time today to go on with the cab and the bonnet. As always ACW

Thanks Dicky, Boots and Carl
Carl I used 80 ISO, that's the settings I normally use when taking macro shots. The settings were F to the minimum, T 1/3", ISO 80 and overexposure 2/3.

As I was saying in my blog, this Xmas I received one of the best presents, bench time So I went on with the cab today, and here you are the results: Next I will start the heavy weathering that such workhorse deserves. First of all I will do some oil CM to try to achieve the fading and the light effects. As always, ACW

Thanks a lot Mence, Bill, Joe, Carl and MarkAnd thanks Dicky both for the support and the very useful SBS. Here you are the first result. It does still need some refinement, yet it has the right look, at least to my eyes: I went on weathering the cab. The mud and the dirt were really sticky during russian winter, so I gave it a heavy coat: Did I overdo it? ACW

Luigi , is it overdone ? All depends on the situation imo . Maybe the driver is a poor house keeper and there's a lot of debris in the area like you said .
