It's looking good Anthony, DML provides some nice interior detail for their Stug kits.

Wonderful build, Anthony. I'm amazed by the fact that they put zimmerit even on top of the stug, what a waste of weight...

I got the roadwheels assembled and painted, and the Magic Tracks assembled. The Tamiya Extra Thin really makes these a snap.Next up hold your breath, mounting the upper and lower assemblies.I hope everything fits without too many problems.I left most of the small stuff off in anticipation of this.

Ahhh this is looking SWEET! I'm not sure what to build after my Pz.II - I reckon it might well have to be this one! Everytime I go into my stash for bits I see this kit and I'm sure it shouts at me! Good work-keep us posted! Ben

Just curious, is there any clearance problems fitting the tracks on the return rollers since you put the upper half on?

Wow! That there be some very fine cammo indeed! I'm sooo tempted to build my kit right now! I read a magazine article where the authour built a lovely StuG with Saukopf Mantlet. He seemed to think that a mantlet cover was a definite 'must-have' and made one that covered the gap between the back of the Mantlet and the Casemate. He made his out of Milliput and it sat over the gap a bit like an Accordion thus implying the real thing would have stretched and compressed with the elevation of the barrel - I'll look for the article and take a photo. I liked it but can't recall ever seeing one before that article! That gap looked much better covered up imo. Sort of like this but the cover was more 'in the gap' than sat on top of the Mantlet? This is looking great - keep us posted! Ben

Very nice camo work there Anthony as well as the detail work. You're making me take a look at some of the StuG kits in the stash as potential next victims...

I've seen loads of them - look good don't they but I don't see why a StuG would need that? I've had a mooch about and found a post by 'Mike Roof' (I hope you don't mind my using your photo, Mike) where he'd made what I was describing for a Pz.IV StuG. There's also some other StuG IV based Mantlet cover photos. The one I saw in that magazine was definately on a III, though? Ignore the first photo on the link as that's a model (obviously) but there's one photo a few posts down with a mixture of stuff and an interesting hinged/flap cover thingy?Photos and linky to page:www.network54.com/Forum/47207/thread/1365685624/Cover+on+Stug+IV+Mantlet-I'm going to look into this as I'd like to do something a bit different when I build my StuG. Keep the photos coming - looking GREAT my friend! Ben
