I think my Stug III is looking real good. Most of the weathering is done, except for maybe some pigments.I started on my figures and stowage.I was really happy and proud of my work, then I noticed,I had very carefully installed my Magic Tracks backwards !!! There is no going back, they are not coming off without damaging something.I mean most people won't notice,I think it's a great build, but I know, and it's a bummer.I mean I have done numerous Mark III and IV's and had never screwed it up.Oh well,I had to leave for work so no time for progress pictures, will post some over the weekend.

I feel for you! I've got a Pzkw I in the same boat. Good luck trying to straighten it out. Like John said, though, most people won't notice since both tracks are the same. It's when you reverse one, but not the other, that it sticks out. On another note, the mantlet cover on Mike's Stug that Ben posted is right on. That's the factory design for on both the III's and the IV's. There were clips on the back of the mantlet and front of the superstructure the covers fastened to (as shown in the pic). Of course, over time the clips broke, or the covers were lost or damaged, so you'll find a lot of variations of the theme. This was especially true in the colder months where crews draped tarps over the entire front area to try and keep cold air from coming in around the gun.

Yeah I am with Bigjohn I wouldn't have noticed if you didn't tell us. Remember I am so bad with numbers so I can not count rivets. You can always come up with an interesting story that the StuG was manned by Polish volunteers fighting for the Third Reich... I bet Bill can confirm for us if its true.

I wouldn't worry about the tracks. Yes, there will be those who will notice. Somewhere in my references I have seen a pic or two with the tracks reversed. No mention as to why. Outstanding work by the way.

Hi Tojo, Looks great. Really top job job and excellent cammo but did you know the tracks were on backwards? Sorry - had to be done matey! I can't wait to build my kit. Really looks superb! If you did want to change the tracks I have about 3 sets of 40cm Magics for a III - you are welcome to a set BUT this build should be left alone now imo - you'll end up making a mess if you try to swap the but they are there if you want them. As for the figures - I vote for pose #1. Ben

Love the camo! Stowage will look great! I used those Verlinden figure sets and they were great too! Used on my StuG I built years ago... almost in same positions! Looking forward to more updates...

My vote would be for the first pose as well, just looks more natural given their individual positions. Nice progress on this one!

I wouldn't bother about the tracks. Without doubt there are numerous in-action pics existing where the track is mounted reversly!
The reason maybe that most crews knew how to change the track, but not which one is the right direction. Maybe they weren't even aware that there is a difference. Regarding the Wehrmacht we are also talking about an army where most of the soldiers didn't have a driving license at all!!!
For those who don't know: as a rule of thumb for German tracks, when viewed from the front, the grouser of the single track-link should always be on lower side, so the force of the sprocket wheel can act on the stronger side of the part.

I agree with Tony. The first pose. It appears more dynamic. The figure on the left appears to be speaking while the figure on the right appears to be listening. The positioning of the figures overall shows and interaction between them. With the second pose, the figure on the left looks completely detached from anything going on. Just my 2¢. Dave

I'd go with the first one too, if you are going to use only thoe two, otherwise a third figure standing on the floor talking to those two would make the third option perfect. I think a guy on a bike would be the perfect complement for this idea. Anyway great job on the stug

great work, I would add a light wash to the vehicle to pick out all those lovely recesses on the waffle zim and some pigments on the running gear, just a light dusting
