As I said over at the AKI forum, this looks fantastic so far mate and is very inspirational. So much so I may have to get one for my first ever knocked out vehicle.

I had a blast with it Rob ! Tomorrow I will give a demo on your rusting method in Antwerp, on our periodic members day of Modelbouw@BE. I'll see if I can shoot some pics of it.

Been working on the @$$ end of the M51 and she's got one rusty butt so far. I've been using LC acrylics and now started with enamels for tonal effects. I will let this all dry for an hour then will dust her butt. Note that in the pics the brighter rust is actually not so extreme. This is one of those problems when photographing these brighter shades of rust. this will go away when the dust effects are in place. The cast steel should be dark as here, and this thinner steel plates a brighter rust tone and weathered different than the cast areas. just a bit of info as to why Iam doing what I've done so far.

Thank you kindly Edi and Chris. Still a ways to go on this one. Will add some variation to the smallr parts as well as the dusting.

To give you an idea of what I mean by different rust tones etc, here are a couple of images from the internet. You can see the colors on this tank varies greatly to Shermans found elsewhere. Different climate and locations play a big role of the type of rust and the tones as well. Also, the type of rust use see here is mainly course rough rust in a reddish tone. You can also see a satin blueish-purple smooth area on the cast metal. These types of effects are one of the most difficult to replicate on a model, and something I hope to achieve in the near future. FOR DISCUSSION ONLY

Missed you there Mac, sorry bud. Been watching you play with the AK stuff and think your starting to like it and having fun too. Gonna just slap some dust pigs on this tonight and see what happens. need to get this off the bench soon and make way for more fun stuff. What's planned you ask......a knocked out and burned Panther with Zimm, a Tiger (?) and we'll see what else. Will also get the JT done for Auburn as well.

Thanks spud, can always count on you bud. Gonna tackle the tracks when I know I have a lot of time. Will get the hull mostly done so I can then switch to the JT base. Spud I figured you'd like the Panther and Tiggy, can't wait myself. Looking through all my ref pics to see what catches my eye. Was thinking of the Panther in Koln Germany.....fresh bright orange rust like the JT I did.
