Eddy, man that is just too nice. Not much doubt about the wheels now and it helps me out with a few other issues I was having.I was concerned with how the "turret" fit to the hull.there seemed to be a lot of space between them. From the pics I can see no problem. Is this the only pic of this beast? If not could you post the link ? thanks,Jeff T.

Jeff, simply type in sturer emil pics in the search bar of your browser and then click on Sturer Emil – Image Results. You’ll have more photos of the subject project that you are working on than you’ll know what to do with. In this day and age you don’t have to be a fart smeller . . . ohh . . . O.K. so here's a real update at last As per Eddy's photo, the drive sprocket and rear idler issues have been fixed. I know the teeth look bright, but I had to tip it to get the silver to show in the pic. One side dry fitted with the upper hull in place just to check clearences. And last but not least, and this is what I like about building outside,I had a visiter this morning when I sat down to the bench He was just hangin' out on my paint brush soaking up the rays. That's a 2/0 brush He's sitting on,so I think that puts Him at about 1/144th scale And yes,He was released back into the wild unharmed.Model on,Jeff T.

It usually happens that an insect might fly and land on the fresh paint...argh. Stopped painting outdoors because of that. For me it when the dogs are in the hobby room while painting, then they shake....dog hair flies every where, including onto the paint.

Field mobile modeling at its best, including a wee fish-bait buddy; you can’t beat that for enjoyment! That homemade ‘home away from home’ hobby bench is roomy, organized and much larger than I had thought now that you've placed all of that hobby stuff and kit on it. Ahhh . . . so where’s the 40 ouncer? Jeff, I use ‘Rub n’ Buff’ silver leaf on a pointed cosmetic cotton applicator for adding the silver to things like the sprocket teeth in combination with a silver Prisma color pencil. You can use different Prisma pencil silver-grays and pencil graphite colors too. The War Hammer gaming figure type of hobby paints work great also. With the pencils I find you have more control and can get them into some tight areas like on the track horns after the tracks are on the model. Anyhow nice profile shot of the vehicle with running gear and tracks, it looks like a 35th scale build. Oh and your little buddy can fit inside now and go for a ride . . .

Guinnie's if you please :)I am familiar with the Prisma pencils, and can see that I need to pick some up.But talk to Me about this Rub n Buff stuff.Who makes it?The bench is the top of an old school desk that I added the sides and back to.It works great, when I'm done working I just pick it up and put it in the bunk room of the camper.Keeps the Wife happy. Oh,and once the Mini-Hopper warmed up a little,He bailed. He must have jumped about 3 feet off the brush.Which explains how he got on the brush to begin with It was really amazing.Jeff T.

Jeff, you should be able to get the ‘Rub n’ Buff’ at a good crafts shop. I get mine at Michael’s here in California. It comes in small tubes like oil paints or tooth paste (travel size) I believe they come in three different colors - silver, copper and gold. You only need a little bit of the stuff ‘cause it goes a long ways. I first used it on airplane models and now I use this stuff on my armor kits. I’ve also mixed this stuff with the AK graphite color pigments for the road wheels on a 35th scale VK45.02 (P)H. Hay Jeff, I once had to jump just are far as I could from a bad marriage!

No need to be sorry Jeff, but it’s good of you and well taken. No choice on the first marriage, if you can’t shut the Jerry Springer Show off with a remote it’s ‘cause you’re in it . . . high time to springer the heck out!

Sniper, thanks man. It's been a pretty good kit so far Dicky,Really, you love Trumpeter? I don't believe I've heard that before I like doing the smaller stuff. It has a lot of advantages.I can build 2-3 1/72nd for the cost of a 1/35th kit. This is My first Trumpy kit, in any scale. So far I will say the fit is good, and most of the details are crisp and well defined. The roadwheels where a little weak but not bad.Would I buy another Trumpeter kit....Yes. Jeff T. Yeah but can you actually SEE those 1/72nd kits? J/K Jeff couldn't resist....nice work! I remember a discussion on another forum a few years ago about the possibility of these Sturer Emils having a 2 tone camo, there was a photo somewhere which brought up the discussion..... Paul

WHOA!!! You build that Eddy? Thats ferkin SWEEEET!!! Brother, I sure did. Thanks for the comment it sure means a lot coming from you! I had this one assembled and painted for a campaign on another forum just before starting on the same kit you’re now working on. It’s a resin conversion kit from Japan (Zitader Design). I used both of Dragon’s Ferdinand and Kingtiger (Porsche turret) as donor kits to complete this build. The tracks are from Fruilmodel. It’s still not finished, still need to weather it up a bit and add a sprayed on serial number on the hulls glaces plate.

Thanks Guys,She's a fine Lass Eddy,What Gary said.It is VERY sweet. My history is weak though, was this just a Paper Panzer or did they actually produce some? PT,I have been looking around on-line,and there seems to be some support for a two color camo. But I can't seem to be able to pin down the colors used. Some say brown/grey some say dark yellow/grey.Got aways to go before I worry about that though Jeff T.

PT,I have been looking around on-line,and there seems to be some support for a two color camo. But I can't seem to be able to pin down the colors used. Some say brown/grey some say dark yellow/grey.Got aways to go before I worry about that though Jeff T. Jeff, the original proposal for the VK45.02 (P) started out as conceptual line drawings. The intent was to use the earlier produced VK45.01 (P) chassis with some modifications (sloped armor) and mate that with a turret housing the long 88 mm gun. One of the proposed drawings had the turret mounted towards the front of the chassis and the other at the rear of the chassis. The forward mounted turret version was chosen for production so the rear mounted version never went beyond the drawing board. The model that I’ve depicted is based on Porsche’s second chassis proposal with the Krupp turret designed for the first chassis proposal. The turret is based on the original design details as outlined for the first proposal in the Jentz & Doyle book ‘VK45.02 to Tiger II’. Many features of this turret differed, both internally and externally, from the turrets that were later fitted to the first 90 Tiger II’s on the Herschel chassis. A dominate feature missed by modelers and model manufactures, based on these vehicles, are the thinner angled roof plates leaving a step up to the center roof plate. What I found interesting during my research was that every feature of the turret other than the coaxial MG 34 was designed exclusively for this turret; no existing parts were used from any other vehicles not even the pistol ports. I think these projects are interesting and I will be getting heavily involved with modeling these vehicles in the near future. Other than where the three engine grill vent openings are placed, crew hatches and the exhausts pipes reside the details on the upper hull are purely speculative as no known original drawings or written text exist bearing any such design features. Note that there is plenty of room for two big block, fully blown - pumped up Chevy rat motors under those two deck hatches . . . just saying! Good you found some evidence to support a little camouflage. This will make your project that much more interesting too! I’m going to check on that from here too Jeff and will post any findings my friend. Now go out and share some paintbrush fumes with a few of them little jumping critters.

Ed,great stuff man,it never ceases to amaze me how much money the Germans spent trying to find "The Winner". So,,I got a lot done today. Here are some pics Up on all fours used this VERY high tech. track jig to hold the tracks off the upper rollers while they dried parts in place on the upper hull Loadfloor based Loadfloor based. and finished and finally a dry fit of the upper hull and "turret" There ya go,starting to look like something now Jeff T. Sorry about the double pic post

Making good progress there Jeff! The blanks on the flooring kind’a looked a little shallow at first but after you painted them they look well defined. Is there any separate detail parts that come with the kit to be fitted against the inside panels of the casemate?
