Hello, I just registered today. That's a nice built you have here nice weldings and that in 1/72. I am building the Trumpeter 1/35 kit right now. One thing you should look at is the right hand casemate next to the one of the driver. That is a fake one that was removed before they were sent to the front line, it was not welded to the hull. The only photo's of them attached is in training area's or barracks and there the vehicles were plain panzer grey. I want to use the same photo for the camo of my model, I think it is grey over sprayed with dark Yellow like the pz IV of I think Gross Deutschland div.

Eddy and Deafstug, thanks for all the great info and fantastic pics I found out this morning while I was on line that indeed there where only 2 made. I think one of them caught fire and exploded from its ammo, but the other one made it to the end of the War, and did well. As far as the hatch "bubbles" go, I saw two so I used two I like the way it looks. I have a long way to go on My history, and at this point if my builds are somewhat close then I am happy Dogfish, I haven't forgotten you, just got really busy look for a PM later this evening. Thanks again guys

Thanks Bruce, just mess around with it and you'll get it down in no time Although it seems like I have been living in a tropical zone with all the rain, I have made some progress between the downpours We now have a rear hatch handle Before... Kit handle removed... And new one installed... And there you have it,not much I know, but it is something

Grabbed some popcorn and soft drink, couple of chocolate covered almonds and a large apple and sat down to open the computer to check on things and all I see is this? One bent piece of soft copper wire, not even one bite or sip of my drink and just like that it’s over! I knew I should have stayed outside and finished watching that huge brown tarantula tear up on that fat little blue bottle fly. Good job on the handle Jeff, it looks just right and to scale at that . . . every little bit counts.

I've been sitting here watching campers go floating down the road If it warm up a little bit never mind stop raining I would be getting more stuff done. I may just have to put on the dry suit and dive in so to speak. It's hard to make handles when you can't feel your fingers It's supposed to be a little better today, so we'll see what happens. If it even reaches 65 degrees I'll be happy. One positive note, at least I don't have to deal with those BIG,FAT,HONKIN' SPIDERS

Thanks for all the comments guys. I realize it's been a slow build but it stopped raining AND got up over 65 degrees today so here We go Even though it has been pointed out that the second cupola was indeed a phony, since its on there it needs to look as real as possible. So I did a little detailing on it Started here added these then some stretched sprue for the pivoting part and some more scrap PE and we have some hinges Next step, more grab handles And yes,I even got it primed So there ya go,a real update. It's good to be making real progress

I'll never quite understand why German panzer designers went through the whole 'dummy' position phase, but it does show up on several vehicles designed at roughly the same time, so I suspect a 'bright idea guy's' influence was the reason! Nice work on scratching up some hinges and handles there Jeff!

Nice work on scratching up some hinges and handles there Jeff! Bill, thanks for the comment Guy,and I agree completely with you about a lot of the things the Germans did. Most of the time there does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to it,or any consistency . In this case since there where only 2 built its pretty cut and dried. That's why I don't get too concerned about about TOTAL accuracy on my builds. To me it just can't be done. Even if you pick one piece of armor,I'm very confident that the way it started the war is not the way it finished it.

What part of the country you in Jeff ‘cause it’s hotter than heck out right now in Southern California. See you’ve made some good progress today and even got permission from Master Boggs to build some of those extra wire handles, they do look nice especially with the scratch made hinges. And you even managed some primer while you were at it. I do have to agree with you about the accuracy issue in modeling with all the reference material going around; it can really take the fun out of modeling. But on the other hand that can be exciting for those willing to do all the research on the subject and kit before starting a build and getting their build as accurate as possible, kind’a like being a Dr. of plastic created renditions or something? Sometimes I just want to build a kit right OOTB and enjoy the time doing so, like you did with the Nova and those HONkinG BiG FaT OveR PounD WheeL’Ola’s. So . . Can you send that Nova over, I just know those bigg’in meatys need to make road kill out of that huge brown tarantula in our back yard. BTW Carl, is that kitty getting all dressed up to go out and have you get’em a Big Burger?

Thanks for all the comments Men. They mean a lot. More progress As per discussed earlier in the thread, the inside fire extinguisher has been changed to red I may try to make some straps for it, We'll see... Under side of hull painted, needs another coat. Und das Shootsenboomer This is going to take some time And now we wait......

Hello Jeff, There is some misunderstanding about the inside fire extinguishers I think. All the removable extinguishers like the ones on the outside seems to be in the vehicle color, only the ones who were part of a fire fighting system with some sort of tubes and sprinklers attached like in the motor compartments could be red, they also had a different shape.

eddy, Ooops I guess I did misunderstand. But I will make a deal with you. The instructions show every extinguisher as red. What I am going to do is, since the inside one has been painted twice, and the shape can't really be changed, I will leave it red, and the outside one's will be the body color. Maybe I could run some tubing from it down into the hull? Sniper, your comments are always welcome, thanks Man. Well, as you may or may not figured out by my lack of updates, it's raining again How long this is going to last I do not know, but I HOPE IT'S SOON! This is the state of My bench at the moment.
It looks like a Murder scene.
I have managed to get the cannon sanded and primed
So much for now. I may move the build inside for a few days, as the Wife has gone to Her Mothers for a couple of days

Jeff,
Nice update there....looking mighty fine as in 1/72nd fine.
I seem to recall another photo of the camo on the Sturer, not sure of the color tho as is typical with some of these war time photos. Well, whatever you decide I'm sure will look great...

You would think that with only 2 made and only one really being put in to service, it would not be all that hard to get an answer
