I want to say how sorry I am for the "way too long" of a time to take to thank all of you that posted comments after my 9/3 update. Turns out I didn't have to wait for the new HVAC to be installed to get some time at the bench. All it took was to eat some franks & beans that were in the fridge for a day or 2 longer than they should have been. After the preshading back on the 3rd, today I did some post shading with a darkened sand. The panels where then "filled in" with a lightened sand trying to get it a bit uneven. This was given a final filter coat of some Tamiya Buff highly lightened and thinned about 90/10. 3 or 4 light coats of that tones it all done and pulls it all together. Not as noticeable in the pictures but lots of color variations.

Thanks for all the comments guys. Yeah Dicky, I do know what you mean. And if you are like me, your build list changes in your head constantly. It's a hard thing we do Bill WOW you're not kidding. I bet that half the guys her have little tiny altars hidden away where they sacrifice Alpine figures to Pigemtus, the paint god. Which reminds me... Any idea how to make an obsidian dagger in 1/35? Marc, when I saw that you are not going make it this year I have trying to figure out how to get by without my yearly "Dupes dose" Seriously though too bad ya can't make it this year.

I’ve tried a new technique. It’s new to me, certainly not to modeling. I have never put a filter on with a brush. I’ve sprayed even coats of a buff filter many times to sort of pull all the components of the finish together. And I have done dot filter’s But this was the first time trying what I saw on a Mig DVD of dabbing a brush damp with the filter to the surface. More than a dry brush among but not enough to puddle. It should be uneven in appearance and when it dries… oh my… the subtle changes in tonal values is very cool. You can see some of it in the pics below but you are not seeing half of what’s really going on there compared to looking at it for real. Time consuming but I think a regular part in the future weathers arsenal. The 1st pic just the right and middle section of the forward turret are done. The 2nd is the whole turret done sitting on the yet unfiltered hull. All comments and critiques welcome.

nice filtering mate, I can imagine that it looks cooler in the flesh indeed. I find it often very hard to capture subtle weathering differences on photo! Keep it up I'd say

Thanks guy, I really appreciate the encouragement and comments. Gary it was a mix of white spirits and Windsor Newton oils. I lost the springs for the antennae and came up with this to make them. A small blob of Milliput shaped and a piece of piano wire. This was wrapped with some 0.01” lead wire and finished off with a couple little bits of brass tube. They are a little big. I have thinner wire, 0.005” & 0.003”, to wrap and I may try to get the blob smaller. Added some chain to the .50 mount and put in the vision blocks. The gun is help with a blob of blue tac for the pic, I made the chains by twisting 2 pieces of the 0.003 stuff together and squeezing it flat with pliers.
