Steve, thanks very much, I have had quite a bit of practice with the micro mesh. The zero paints do go on very smoothly if applied in thin layers, which helps a lot with the final finish.
Mence, thanks mate, the enjoyment certainly out weighs the cost.
Mark, thanks mate, I've mixed about 60ml of 2k clear so far on this project. I also keep a record so I can estimate the requirement more accurately.
Gag, thanks very much, you won't be disappointed with the 2k clear.
Bruce, thanks very much.
More soon,
Keith.

Hi jackwagon, thanks mate, it was good to catch up with you too.
Mark, only 8ml per project? Is that for the bike builds? The Porsche does have a very large surface area and I have given each panel four coats so it soon adds up I guess.
Bill, thanks for looking in mate.
More soon,
Best Regards
Keith.

Good Evening Gentlemen, Here is another update for you, The first photo shows one half of the spoiler raising mechanism, this was a fiddly build as there are a number of springs, gears and pawls inside to allow the spoiler to raise smoothly. This second photo shows the rear panel dry fitted, I have applied the carbon decals here but they still require a little tidying and then some 2K clear coat. The next photo shows the rear panel and light clusters dry fitted. Here is an overhead shot of the engine bay showing how the cowling fits with the doors and fuel cap. (the cowling parts are dry fitted and has yet to be polished, so this is what the 2K clear looks like straight from the air brush). Finally an overall shot of the progress so far. There is still a way to go with this, so hope fully I will have some more for you soon. As always all comments, criticisms and questions welcome. Best Regards Keith

Hi Mark,
Thanks very much mate, this kit is definitely a beauty, the form fit and function of all of the parts is top notch. the shine on the bodywork is mainly down to the high quality of the 2K clear coat I have used, along with a little elbow grease of course. I'm glad you have found my ramblings of interest so far mate.
More soon.
Best Regards
Keith

Good Evening Gentlemen, Ok Here is another update for you, The first photo shows the rear spoiler, this part had two rather nasty sink marks which had to be filled, my filler of choice is squadron green, here you see it sanded and prepped for primer. The next two photo's are of the last remaining body parts to be painted and clear coated. The roof panels....... ....and the roll bar hoops These last photo's show the engine cover completed and the spoiler in the extended position. As always all comments, questions and criticisms welcome. More soon, Best Regards Keith

A thing of beauty Keith, I can only dream of getting my clear coat down as good as you.
But what did I read? Tamiya kit, sink marks?, I'm off for a lie down in a darkened room....

Chris, jackwagon, thanks for looking in fella's
Steve, thanks mate, the grilles are very nice I have to agree. The fit is so good, they are held in with out any glue.
Mence, thanks for stopping by, if you need some pointers on clear coat let me know. I was surprised myself when I saw the sink marks, but having said that, under the spoiler at this point is the attachment point for the spoiler and this recess is quite deep.
More soon,
Best Regards
Keith.

Bill, thanks very much mate.
I had a good session on this today, so I am now very close to the finish, just got some details to finish off now, although some times these seem to take as long as the build.
More soon,
Best Regards

Luigi, Mark, Mence,
Thank you for the generous comments about the build. I think this kit has to be the most enjoyable so far in my modelling career (and I have built a few now) The way everything goes together is just perfect, a real tribute to the engineers at Tamiya (and the designers of the car at Porsche)
My next car build will be the Big tamiya Enzo, but this will not be started until the New year now as I plan to build some Armour items for training purposes, I find that varying my subjects often helps to sharpen the skills and techniques for other genres.
Best Regards
Keith
