Getting close to the need for paint on this one T! Nice work as usual with all the little details. That blade should provide a lot of opportunity as well in the weathering stages, nice big piece of 'canvas' to play with.

Thanks again Bill!! There are a few areas that can have their own little special attention which is Kewl! The blade is certainly on and should prove to be a fun time!!!

You are absolutely correct what guy does not like tractors, when I grow up I want a job driving one. We export our garbage somewhere so we dont have one at the dump but all the large woodchip places have at least one or two and that's like pushing garbage.

That's one helluva machine! Looks like a really impressive kit too, not to mention the build itself. I guess the kid in me still likes his construction vehicles hahaha.

Thats one big hunk of metal there T, nice clean assembly and it looks great ! This must be quite big in 1/35 , could you do a comparison piccy plz ? Deano Deano I've seen a piccy of one of these up against and M1 ( I think it was ML but could be wrong) - boy it IS big! Noticably higher and kinda made me think if I was a bad guy I prefer the M1 to be commin' after me!

Bones - It is the inner kid in all of us to want one!! That is a whole lotta woodchips!! I forget where you hail from...big tree country!! Connor - Yup, construction stuff is just plain cool!! Thanks btw!! It's a pretty cool kit all around! Paul - I think I seen one with a Panther next to it and it was the same feeling...big!! I should have some final construction pics coming at some point soon...I will try and sneak in another comparison shot with something mechanized!! Thanks Steve!! I think I might have mentioned something about the base during this build...nothing is ever set in stone but was planning on going dirty, maybe a nice chunk of rubble, junk and a couple figs...but as I always say, nothing is off the table!! Thanks Pete!! Yeah, all the sharp angles are appealing!! Should be a blast to weather!!!

Okay... the big question, and forgive me if it's been asked before (probably by me ) but what color is this beast going to be? OD? It's looking good so far and a favorite of mine! Jeff

Thanks Jeff!! Glad you are enjoying this! Well...IDF Grey is the color...as I see it. A few twists but this is the basis of the paint. Some lovely weathering and a nice little base and it might not look half bad!

Oh that will be different and unique!
So has it been an easy build or were there any pitfalls we need to know? I have a couple of diecast 1/16 dozers but think building one will be fun. I have never had a Meng kit but sooner or later it will happen.

LOL...a little pressure there Boss....Nice!! Probably needed it!! Jeff - Not to many "pit-falls". Watching your track length, some EPM's in the cab and a couple of more here and there but not bad fixes at all. Goofiest one was the wrong picture in the instructions about adding the hydraulic bolt heads...easy fix...You will see in the pics below a couple of areas with filler on them...mainly the front hydraulic shields, there was slight sink depressions on them...again..easy one or change to the alternate set and don't be bothered....other than that, this one was still exceeded a few kit makers standards and the cost was low...winner! I like the sound of the die-cast! There were one or two posted here early on if I remember correctly. Painting and weathering is the same approach as a plastic kit...FUN!! Dicky - I be here brotha'!! LOL...I was working on things again and got lost off the puter! Well done Meng! The ease of construction of Tamiya, with the fit of Trumpy and NOT DML's instructions...can't go wrong!! Was thinking this would make one sick Post Apocalyptic build...couple 120mm strapped to the side....LOL...all for another day!! Thanks for the link to the color...I like! I have something that will work, but if somewhere local has this in stock I will give it a shot!! Well....I think the construction is done! Things will be moving to the booth soon. I will be showing some of the painting process but the bulk will be saved for the feature for Armorama...but then again, I will have the dio to construct too...so plenty of pics to go around!! Forward... The blade!!This was straight forward, clean up some parts and they fall together. There are two shield type cover plates on the rear of the blade. The instructions show them being installed in two slots...they didn't want to fit with the tab...I found it just easier to remove the tabs and glue the suckers on! With a sharp eye, you will see two EPM's on the top two inside plates of the blade...fill....sand...gone. After this blade came together, it was just a matter of sticking the pieces together. I think it is a rather impressive looking model all around. In the next pic you will see a couple of things that look out of place...one being the white handle on the cab mount. This part was broken in half in the kit. Tinny bugger, I could not find the other half. I made one in a few minutes with some rod stock, sanded the bottom flat and a couple bolts and I was back on track. The other is the fuel cans. These are not the ones from the set. Now I have not heard any issues with the cans fitting in this part anywhere online...but they were a touch small. Since I have the Black Dog IDF Accessories Set, I have two fuels cans that fit superbly in the PE rack. Moving to the top, I wanted to add some of the Basalt anti-skid effects. This looks not too bad up close but is a bit heavy at the moment but I am waiting until completely dry and I will scrub this back a little. I used Cinnamon. The granules are spot on for the scale I think. After looking over some of the pretty pictures in the Dessert Eagle Book, D9 Variants, there are several pics of the topside. They are from two different D9's. It is clear the application is installers' choice as to where the coverage goes.... So that covers 99.8% of the build. I have the blade's horizontal stabilizer to install which get a cap that glues on...if it goes on now, I will not be able to remove the blade for painting. I had to give some of the BD IDF Set a little dry fit..... I have a ton to choose from with the set, so there is a few other pieces and I will mix and mingle them to get something that looks decent. A little raised blade action for the last shot.... So there you have it, construction done! I do have one handle to add to the cabin door that I missed. Other than that...time to prep this big girls for some Primer!!! Wish me luck!! As always, thanks for hanging out!!

Todd
Really looks like the real thing and your little touches like the seasoning have really set it off. Will we be seeing some pics on the bar armor assembly? I assume that the bar armor will be separate until the weathering is in hand. Beautiful work seems understated but believe me it is a beauty.

Very impressive outcome! Maybe the next few photos you could place something next to it as a form of size reference? That would be great just to know the size of this. So IDF gray huh? I'm already liking it! Jeff

Bones - Thanks for the kind words fella! The encouragement is always welcomed! As for the bar, and this might be my fault as I ramble on mostly, but I won't be putting the bar armor on...this one. Still not available and I just wanted to move forward on it. In the future, maybe another! Of course if Voyager was willing to send me a set, I would be more than happy to buy the next one tomorrow!! LOL!! Jeff 1- Thanks! It does have that "wrecking attitude" to her, don't she? Paul - Thanks for stopping in...no worries my friend, this is far outside the sculpting world!! Sounds like you had a nice wrecking crew down on the islands!!! Ken - Sup? Funny that you bring up Cinnamon....umm, the spice!! Haven't seen the other one in a while but the memories are priceless!! If the shocks on the car can handle it, I will toss this in the trunk either way!! Deano - Thanks Brotha'! The Cinnamon is a nice compliment to the paint fumes...a full bodied flavor but not to pretentious. Jeff 2 - Thanks again! I seen one dressed up in camo which looked awesome...but this one is calling out the IDF color Sceme!! You ask btw, and you shall receive:
