Many thanks chaps, holiday was great, went by too quickly of course but hey, there's always next year!
I'm going to try to sort the barrels next, to be honest it isn't a great surprise as you do find these 'issues' on some of Tams old 1/6s.
Boo, never doubted BBK would deliver, glad you're happy with what you found in the box!
Back soon.

Hi chaps, thank you for the kind words, clearly I bought something back from Turkey that I didn't really want! Here we go, engine. The fit on some parts isn't that good, probably down to the age, still, I managed to dress it all up fairly well so most of the horrors disappeared under primer. All the bolts on the barrels are separate parts which adds greatly to the overall appearance. The Y shape inlet manifold is a problem, trying to fit it results in forcing the cylinder heads apart so some careful filing ensued to try and correct it, not 100% right but I risk losing the detail if I do any more. A combination of Acrylics and Enamels have been used to provide a finish, looks ok to me. There are a couple of casings to fit, only reason they're not fitted is because I'm undecided whether I go with the finish OOTB or repaint which is what i have done on the rocker covers. Anyway, couple of pics before it finds its home in the frame....hopefully! Cheers guys.

Hello chaps. Once again, your kind words and encouragement go a long way, thank you. Must admit that the motor is my fave part of bike builds but I really didn't feel the love on this one. Onwards, started work on the wheels, single piece, aluminium colour plating, all you need to do is paint the bits that should be black, err, black! Straightforward although rather fiddly, coat the whole thing in semi gloss black enamel, let it dry and then with a cotton bud soaked in enamel thinners, remove what you don't need. Quick pic for the before and after. Thanks again chaps.

Hi Dicky, thank you, makes a nice change from fiddling with the engine.
As far as I am aware there's no time limit when it comes to enamels, I use Tamiya ones and I can easily remove the paint days later.

Hi Mence, Nice work with the wheels.
Where do you buy your tamiya enamels? From your profile it looks like you are quite close to me, I'm in West Sussex too.
Best Regards
Keith.

Jeff, Keith, thank you chaps.
Keith, enamels come from Hong Kong via an ebay seller, not convenient but as you probably know, they are difficult to get in the U.K.
Yes, I am fairly close to you I reckon, I live in Southwater, just South of Horsham.
Back soon but it will be another meagre update...

Cheers Bill, I'm happy with the outcome. The handy thing is that if you mess up, just repaint and start again, no harm done.

Thanks Steve.
I'd like to claim the wheel painting process was my own idea but actually, I pinched it from the Tamiya website!
