Thanks Gary!OJ, the problem with rigging her is there's no real way to do that easily...the masts are soooo delicate, they can't take any kind of tension to support lines between them...it's a miracle they survived intact thus far to be honest!  |

I suppose that's what life is like when you don't have your starting receivers or Vernon Davis playing in the game, although they did get Gore going early on at least. Going to be a long few weeks in the short term I think.  |

I didn't want to spoil your day... I admit I was surprised that Colts played very well. Colts started without six starters today so I figured we will loose today.
Hope 49ers will do better next week.

Looks great Bill as it seems a bit sad this is finished already, but they all must come to an end I guess. And sorry about your 49ers (no, I am not a Colts fan anymore) but I bet Harbough still wished he had Smith with them. Two games lost in a row is not their MO. BJ, thanks! Had some fun with the weathering, first time I've ever done pin washes and dry-brushing while wearing the Optivisor. May be something I do more of in the future...just not on a ship!  Jeff, every build must have an ending in order for another to begin! At least on my workbench, don't say anything to CB or he'll never build again! It wouldn't have mattered who was QB in the game on Sunday I think, when you've got no WR corps to speak of (nothing against Boldin but he is just one player), there just isn't much that's going to happen on offense regardless. It's going to be an interesting season in the NFL, I knew that from the beginning! As for the mounting, do you mean the stand? It's what was provided in the kit and is a pretty common approach these days for full hull models among ship builders as I understand it...they just usually have to make their own out of lamp filials and wood bases. Rob, high praise indeed and good timing as it's your fault I'm building this one, remember? T, thank you sir! Have to agree, was really pleased with the way the washes behaved. Dragon provides so much nice detail in the parts molding, I had to find some way to bring it out without overwhelming things in the process. This seems to have worked out very well IMHO. Great lookin boat mate there some very nice images about with the life rafts in yellow really pops them out,but on the other hand she looks like a combat vessel this way and mighty fine too

Luigi, thanks for stopping by! As for the 'Phins, it's about time they had a good year...they've been struggling for a while. One thing about the NFL, it's very hard for teams to stay dominant for extended periods of time any more, but that's a good thing as it keeps life interesting!
Jeff, I hear you, so much has changed in the hobby in the past few years, a lot of things that required improvisation are now becoming 'standard' features in kits. On the one hand that ups the value but it also ups the price...as well as the potential complexity for less-experienced users, so always have to 'pick your poison' in that regard!
Mac, I had debated whether or not to go with yellow on the life rafts vs. the gray and considering how prominent they were all over the place, particularly on the bridge, I thought the gray would be the better choice for a combat vessel of this particular class. The few images I was able to scrounge up of the Z-38/39 in war-time didn't show a marked contrast so I ran with the gray. Thanks for looking in as always and appreciate the comments!

Oh don't I know it! There were some very inspirational kits at the Evergreen show this weekend. I wonder what the ICD 10 code is for RNS. I fear that even a reverse flow isolation room will not suffice. There are some very nice destroyer kits at the LHS.....must resist..must resis....must re........mu........ooooooooh pretty ships. Small little update, literally! Dragon's kit includes several 1/350 crew members in different poses and I opted to include 2 of them on the bridge deck. Really shows the scale I think and the figures are very nicely molded. The two selected were the Captain in a relaxed pose with one leg raised and a hand outstretched and a crewman standing with his hands behind his back. Painting them under the Optivisor was fun, I used Testors enamel Flat Sea Blue for the uniforms, Flat Light Tan for the faces and hands, and Flat Black for the belts, boots, and hat brim. Flat Light Gray for the captain's signature hat and then a quick snip off the sprues, little bit of touch-up, then voila! Both were positioned on the bridge wing gazing out over the bow.   Just a couple of minor touch-ups here and there needed to wrap this one up. |
