Hi All Many many thanks for the great remarks and encouragement left by you guys, its so very much appreciated had some great news today on the work front, finally got 2 contracts that i was after for some rather large extensions, so the modelling might slow down a bit whilst i sort out the logistics for them. Anyway finally started painting, primed the horse then base coated the head and neck, and then started detailing the head. I used Titanium white as a base and then used Blue for the lighter shadows, this was gradually shaded darker with grey, ive added some flesh tone to the nose and around the eyes and put the first coating for the eye on Ive been out today getting some good pics of any white horse i could find, and the colours in them vary quite a lot, especially around the feet and ankles. all for now Paul

Hi All Cheers Spud and Bigjohn jackwagon thanks bud, yeah probably not everyones first choice but blue is a great colour to give a subtle shade tone to white Boots thanks matey glad yr enjoying it T luckily there is a stud farm down the lane, so plenty to choose from ;D Bullardino cheers mate and yes all done in oils Had a bit of bench time today and managed to get the other side of the head done, i have also added some skin tones on the nose and ears, just parts where the hair is thin or worn away. The first coat of burnt umber has been put on the bridle, im not going to spend a huge amount of time on the bridle as most of it wont be seen under the shafron. All for now Paul

Paul, WOW... Holy Crap... Now that I have picked my jaw up off the floor? Well maybe not all the way off the floor. It's an amazing build and some great stuff. What is the scale? I will be following this just for the entertainment factor (I'd say to learn how it's done, but this is so far out of my league that I'd never take on something like this). I'll stick to the off the wall stuff that I dabble in. Great to see a Master at work. Shawn

Hi all T, Shawn, and the boss, thanks for the great comments.......... Not much to show at the mo, the weather has been glorious, so, just in case this is our summer ive been enjoying it with a bit of fell walking. Anyway ive managed to do a bit more of the horse, having a bit of trouble getting the contrasts right, i dont want it to look grey but then again it has to have a bit of shading. this is the first run at the shading, ive added a bit of yellowy brown to the legs, just to show a bit of worn in dirt all for now Paul

Cheers jackwagon I paint in sections because i use alkyd paints, although they are oils they dry much quicker, about an hour, so if i did the whole horse the back half would be dry by the time i got to it Paul

Hi all Cheers Chris cheers mate, i added a touch of brown to the black for the shading and just strasight black for the deepest shadows, seems to have worked out quite well. The right side is now complete, added a touch of yellow and brown to the legs and completed the hooves, just the other side to complete then i can do the caparison and the armour. All for now Paul

Hi jackwagon, cheers mushty yr jokes get worse . yeah i spent ages on the hind side then realised that a good portion will be covered . never mind its good practice, ive just primed the caparison and some bits of the armour so ill get the whole horse complete and then do old George. Just had the call to send of the lady and knight figures so that they can make the molds. I did have a small tear when i had to separate the figures . It will hopefully be ready for sale by Euro Paul

Hi All With the horse nearly finished ive started on the armour and caparison. The Shafron was based coated in gloss black and then had 2 coats of humbrol metal coat steel which was then polished. I then added highlights with metal coat alluminium and shading with metalic black With the Caparison i wanted the white colour to be different from the horse, so it had a base coat of white and then several washes of cream and a final coat of white and raw sienna mixed, this gives it a sort of dirty linen look. The shading was done with black and burnt umber and the highlights in white. Still a bit of work to do on the cross Ive also started the mane and tail so more pics to follow all for now Paul

Hi All Thanks for the comments guys. Finished the right side of the caparison, a bit of heavier shading on the cloth, then the cross was highlighted in various shades of orange and burnt umber for the shading, I base coated the fringe with black, then dry brushed with red, orange, yellow and some white to finish it off. The left side has been started and will be finished the same as the right. all for now Paul

Hi All Sorry i havnt updated for a bit but i thought id get the horse redone after the cock up and then carry on..................So the horse has been redone and this time coated with dull coat, the caparison is finished and added on as well as the shafron, the saddle cloth has been painted, not sure on the colour though so that might change. All thats left on the horse is the peytral to paint and add and the mane and tail, the straps and reins will mostly be added after the figure is on all for now Paul
