U.S. NAVY LCM (3) Landing Craft

Bought this kit, so i could enter a Normandy Invasion Group Build on another Forum. However, at the time, didn't have time to enter this LCM. Would like to share with you guys, while waiting for paint to gas out on the 51 Ford Crestliner. Chime in if you have any info or critiques.

Started cutting parts from trees and cleaning them up. Thanks for lookin.

Been working on the PE parts for better part of the day. Finished up sheet 1. and put together the front hatch door. A little on the hull assembly.



Next up is the .50 cals, interior and about 110 structural support frameworks for the ramps and interior.

Thinkin about buildin this bad boy for Transport.

Thanks. The Tank is PTO, but it has the correct wading trunks for Normandy.

You guys crack me up Thanks. Worked on the steering house. Had to modify the base, by cutting a thin sliver off, to slide it on. I'll do anything to get out of doing all those dern support frames

So today, washed all the parts for the M4A2 Sherman and studied the directions ( Not that it will help). Have more questions than answers, like which wheels to use, seeing as the kit comes with 3 different sets. From what I can see, the Academy kit is very detailed. Even has casting marks. Two sets of Drive Sprockets.

Okay, from what I'm hearing, the M4A2 isn't the correct model I'm looking for. So, I'll just drop that part for now and get on with the LCM (3). Cut, snipped, folded 108 PE supports. ( Only needed 72:) The up side is I have 36 spare supports..... if I ever need them!



Put the sides together along with more PE for the life preservers and pike poles.

She's starting to take shape...... and space.

Thanks fellas. Not going to do the Normandy version. Instead am doing the Iwo Jima version. Here she is in primer and to give it some scale.

The LCM is looking good with the primer on! Glad to hear you didn't have to use the other 36 parts...it seems strange they would supply so many and not have them used? Looking forward to more on this one Bruce, the upside to it being that huge is you already have somewhere to store/display the Sherman when it's done!

Bruce, very glad to see someone building this one up. I bought it as soon as it was released a few years back and built it up as soon as I got it home. In the process, I know I didn't do the kit justice and should have done a bunch of research. I hadn't built a yacht in decades so weathering it and rusting it up just didn't happen. I'm glad to see you taking a crack at it. She is looking really good. PE wasn't available when I built mine. It will make a huge difference! Not to take over your thread but here are a couple pics of mine. I used Tamiya's M8 howitzer to fill in the bay. Will be looking forward to seeing your end result.
