This is the DML Pz I. I've had this one partially started for at least three years now. I waited until my skills came up to a level where I could deal with this itty bitty model. This is base coated with Krylon Gray Primer which, to my eye, is a good scale match to Panzer Gray. When I dust coat the M3 this beastie will get a hap hazard coat of buff. She's going to be a well worn DAK panzer. That's the plan anyway. I commend the tankers who rode these lil' monsters. I get claustrophobic looking at it. G

O.K. G, fess up. How itty bitty is it? The model I mean Well here's pics of the lil feller. The model that is ........... Andy- I'm going to blame this on the late summer heat that just broke. Dicky- Grey is the word in my house............................... Robbo- DAK colors are just so right on these aren't they? I just realized I misspoke in the title. This un's a Pz I! I'll amend the error forthwith. G

I really enjoy having three days off, it gives me a lot of bench time. The base coat is on as of this morning. I used a mix of Tamiya Buff, Deck Tan and Flat White. The proportions of the colors were measured by the SWAG method and the final color measured against the LAR scale. The color is actually modulated more that the pics show. Note I masked areas for the DAK palm tree insignia. The sheet does not indicate this tank had the palm but hey, what says Africa Korps more that that? G

Looking good! VERY GOOD! Over the last four/five years I've built everything from the Pz. IA/IB, Pz. II, lots of III's, IV's, StuGs, and Panthers/Tigers/Elefant etc. I have to say that, imo, NOTHING (apart maybe from the early Pz.III's) matches the Pz.IA for personality - it's such an amazing looking little AFV, I love 'em to bits. I happen to have Dragons cracking Premium Edition Flakpanzer IA in the stash c/w the ammo trailer. I'm feeling a Pz.IA build coming on pretty soon! Keep us posted, I'll enjoy this one! Ben

Deano- Thank you sir! I look at the basecoat as truly the foundation of the final finish. Imatanker- Nothing says DAK, and desert warfare, more than that palm tree insignia. Dicky- It reminds me of the Photo taken on Kwajalein of the Japanese tankette on the engine deck of a Sherman. Hinksy- I was going to say, you've built at least one of each haven't you? Here we are as of this evening. The weather is positively beautiful. Humidity is perfect for painting acrylic and drying times for enamels are quite short as well. Afte scrubbing the finish with Tamiya acrylic thinner I used a filter I made from MM enamel "Afrikabraun" (RAL 8020) and Burnt Umber oil. The pinwash is straight burnt umber. G

It's looking good here G, especially the wear around the turret hatch and other areas. Some nice subtle variations are evident in the sand yellow areas as well. One small thing to note, the exhausts on the Pz I are different than other vehicles, the pipes that attach to the mufflers on the fenders are actually rubber and not metal, so they should not be rusted as a result.
