Cheers guys A little progress update, started with a few selected filters and pin washes using Abteilung dark coloured oils I had a little bit of mishap when adding the instrument panel decal sheet (pretty much the most important one on the feckin sheet ) It was placed with the front wheels on cocktails sticks and I stoopidly forgot to seal it I thought I had as everything else got sealed and when I was placing the decal on the panel it agitated the hairspray which in turn made the paint on top sticky again ! The decal had a really intricate black border line which pretty much outlined the whole panel and this got stuck in a few places. It took a lot of fiddling and cursing and the main speedo ended up slightly off centre but it could have been so so much worse Seats have an initial coat of oils and the fire extinguisher and ammo box a first coat of Vallejo acrylics Underside of the top panel moulding Wheels and idler wheel Next stage is to apply some light coloured oil weathering and some pigments to the interior then to add an assortment of equipment Los

Hey Los engine and Engine look superb ! On the 1/1 did you rebuild for better performance ? Good to see you back on this like Pete said . Cheers guys Carl, Oh I wish it was that simple 330 BHP 2.5 flat 4 turbo engined Subaru Forester (Jap import). Up to now always been lucky with used vehicle purchases but this one's been a PITA Engine out in March for head gasket replacement and then 2 weeks ago bottom end bearings let go. Into the workshop for a complete bottom end rebuild including new crankshaft etc. Just running it in now just in time for our winter (whatever that decides to be this year !) Primer is on the SD.Kfz 8 interior, chassis and running gear. Now to decide on a color scheme ? Hey Los , I got your thread book marked now so will be popping in more often . Craps bout the engine ! Course winter aint the preferrable time of year for breaking in a new engine on a nice long road trip is it ? I really like the looks of your weathering on the frame , even if'n it cant be seen you certainly gave it super look .The dash looks perfect from here . Sucks bout the decal mess up ! when that stuff happens it gets really intense don't it . Great effects you got with the H.P. chipping . Color looks spot on where the lighting is correct . I'll be back to see more my friend .

Kind words gents, its an enjoyable project. I get so much inspiration from builds on this site.........'there quite marvelous in it' Carl Its got almost 1K on the clock now and getting used to my heavy right foot again . Our builds have been real similar up to now but it I guess your packing a bigger punch from here on in ...............and mine's just going to carry sh*t and lug stuff Neems Yep it's tucked well away once the lids on. It wont have to remind me so often not to go their again Did a quick session tonight on the hull top interior. Although this wont be visible I like to finish as if it was. Its good practice with oils before the exterior gets a makeover. Used a combo of Abtielung wash brown, buff, yellow and white. Gonna give it one more pass with a darker mix of oils round the hatch openings and handles and then move on to the hull bottom Doh ! Wish I'd filled that pinhole in the visors

More excellent progress here Los! I agree with Dicky, don't sweat the dashboard at all, wouldn't even notice the issue unless you had pointed it out. Wheels and other details are coming along nicely as well.

Cheers guys, hoping you like it Hi Craig. I used Tamiya paints, Dunkelgelb, White, Deck Tan mix in an approx 40/40/20 ratio. Starting light as its harder to lighten a dark paint jobby ! Only got a few hours bench time over the weekend and my son smuggled my camera away so only got phone camera pics which make the colours look very anemic ! Additional oil weathering to the interior. I am in the process of painting the benches and some accessories to pop inside. Steering wheel, gear and brake lever knobs to paint along with some further oil work on the seats Vision blocks added to the vision slits. I have absolutely no evidence that blocks were used in this vehicle but I had to hide the pin holes on the rear of the moulding. Thin clear plastic from packaging used and cut to size and then painted in Vallejo green tailight Chassis all ready for dropping the engine in For now Los

Cheers Gary, shes an odd looking beast. When I was building the lower hull I kept thinking it was a 1/16 Kubelwagon out the corner of my eye. Must be the horizontal slats on the outside lockers and all those angles !

great weathering technique you have, I love it. How did you make all those fine scars, a fine paintbrush? I will follow this from now on. One little thing is the red fire extinguisher, normally they were painted in body base color. linkEddy

One little thing is the red fire extinguisher, normally they were painted in body base color. linkEddy Hi Eddy Fine scars are with a sharpened cocktail stick and are applied to the Dunkelgelb after the hairspray (see earlier posts) I tried to be as random as possible and if they didn't stand out from a couple of feet away then job done Good shout about the extinguisher matey. Should have looked that one up Thought it would add a little colour but if the red type were not 'usually' added to open topped vehicles then it will get changed. Looks like I am looking for a 1 strap only 'late' version. Now where will I find one of those ? Los
