Leather looks pretty realistic!!! Great work. I really hope Pete doesn't have a nice collection of leather pants and outfits because he nailed it on the figure... YOU'LL NEVER KNOW!

Dicky yes the base coat is acrylic as will be the main colours. I have never had a problem over painting the areas with oils on them. I do make sure it's fully dry first though. Anything to a couple of days to a week in the airing cupboard. Smudge cheers mate and thanks for your help buddy Right the valentine had a matt varnish today as well, came out very will with lots of the previous weathering showing nicely. I have a little bit of silvering on the turret decals but nothing a bit of dust won't sort out. She will be getting a spray with some dust then pigments later on this week hopefully.

Matt coat has really brought back a lot of the weathering subtleties on this one Pete. Looking good!

I love the result, the matt coat didn't affect the colour tones leaving intact all your nice weathering.

What Flat do yer use Pete? There's little or no darkening of the overall tones from what I can see - the original streaking and staining is showing thru a treat and that Mr R is correct, if yer hadn't mentioned the silvering we'd never have noticed. First class work here fella Dicky I use Winsor & Newton Galleria acrylic matt varnish. I usually add a couple of drops of water to it and it sprays like a dream. Usually giving a super matt finish with a couple of light coats. Andy You're always in love mate you heart breaker just think of all those models you fell in love with before and then just tossed aside!

That is as sweet a looking Vally,as I've seen anywhere,Pete!...And that leather jerkin looks very realistic, are you going to give it the 'veteran' look? Whenever we were given new uniform, first thing we did was try and fade it,so's we didn't look like Newbies

Cheers guys, Ceebee, I'm thinking more dusty and training on say Salisbury plain. I have added some chipping but the main weathering will be paint & pigments. I want to keep it restrained so as not to loose all that lovely detail

Hi Pete
Looks even better with that matt coat. I must try that Galleria if its that easy...airbrush clean up done with water? I guess WH Smiths will stock that, maybe The Range?
Salisbury Plain in summer; a proper dust bowl by my recollection. The dust gets everywhere.

Salisbury Plain in summer; a proper dust bowl by my recollection. The dust gets everywhere. Smudge Yes mate the galleria cleans up with water through the airbrush. Another handy thing about it is that you can touch up any glossy bits very easily with a brush straight out the jar. Hobbycraft or any good art shop will have it. You are not wrong there Smudge in the summer the dust does get everywhere I can sometimes even see great dust clouds from my house in the summer! Here is the figure now with the base uniform colour, doesn't look much like Brit WW2 uniform yet but rest assured it will!

Hey Pete! Man, she looks mighty fine! Im impressed with the Matt varnish you used, looks dead flat. How long do you let dry before further weathering and does it hold up to Mineral Spirits? Micheals Craft store has a nice W&N product selection. Beautiful Modeling brother Pete!

Micheals Craft store has a nice W&N product selection. Beautiful Modeling brother Pete! Cheers fellas, Gary I usually leave it about three days to fully cure then it's rock solid. Of course I always handle matt varnished models with a glove. Being acrylic it holds up very well to white spirit & MIG & AK washes no problem. I have used tons of acrylic matt varnishes in the past but this is the one which performs consistently and is the easiest to use.

Chuffing figure painting did not come out as I wanted so I've stripped it to start again. nothing major just for some reason could not get the uniform to look right.

Hi there Pete,
Looks very good. Being reasonably new at this forum has (dis-)advantages. Pro is that you see some incredible work from modellers you never knew. A disadvantage is, that this forum is so big you sometimes completely overlook beautiful models like this one. Just stumbled across, but what a beauty she is: clean build, nice paintjob, suble weathering just the way I like it:
THANKS! I'll be watching this one from now on.
greetings, Richard.
