Thanks John! I need to get some more aircraft and sci-fi in there, though - bit armor heavy at the moment.

Good stuff Dupes. How big of a stash do you have for all these partial builds?? Must take up twice the space of a boxed kit! Anyway, I'm liking that whirbelwind. When's that RSO we talked about a while back going to see the light of day??

When's that RSO we talked about a while back going to see the light of day?? Rick Stash = large. Very large. And you're correct - these half-builts are KILLING my storage/bench space bigtime...one reason I'd like to get them done! At least twice the space of a kit box. Ugh. The RSO - you won't believe this, but the RSO was actually sitting on my bench yesterday slated to be #8 for the year, right up until Boyd decided it was time to start our next duel, so it was replaced by the big Corsair. If I get tired of working on that thing, the RSO is where I'll be turning for an alternative.

Also, I meant to do this earlier, but I'm amending the first post on page one to reflect which builds were shelf queens versus "fresh" starts. I guess I'll have to come up with a cutoff for shelf queen status...is 6 months a shelf queen? Or is 3 months of inactivity considered queeny enough? The one I have the hardest time classifying is the Wirbel - started last July, and I've plugged away at it bit-by-bit ever since.

Front page updated. Unfortunately (for my stack of shelf queens) only two of the seven builds so far came from that pile. The other five had the sprue bags cut in 2014!

"....3 months of inactivity considered queenie?...." Are you havin' a larf? I feel guilty dusting mine off after a night in bed!!! Great builds all Dupes.....makes me chuckle how you guys can have so many builds SOOOOO close to bein' finished and for whatever reason they just get parked...you lot must have the attention span of a.............. Hang on what's THAT??? BRB Hahahahaha...nice. So what's the definition of a shelf queen? One month? Two weeks? Any build where you work on another build before completion? A lot of the time builds stall when I run into something difficult. For me, it's either something that needs some serious putty and sanding work (by far my weakest modeling skill) or weathering. I HATE messing up a well-constructed well-painted build with shoddy weathering. Oh yeah, and canopies. A/C kits with multi-window canopies can make me totally throw on the brakes.

Dupes, I don't know about others but if I'm building one and then start on another, then blow past where the first one us at in construction, the first just became a shelf queen in my mind ... Oh crap, I just realized I have more of those than I thought! I hate putting things in perspective...

dupes for me if i havent touched it in a month or two (with the exception of the occasional lapse in mojo) then a queen it is.
mind you i rarely have them. if i start it i tend to stick with it to the bitter end. well most of the time anyway.

All good definitions...I'll just have to apply dome discretion when labeling my queens as such. Fact of the matter is, I only cleared two off the bench so far! Although I suppose c budding out of the stash counts for something, too.

The pak-40s aren't DONE? Those are like 8 year shelf queens!
Forgot about the JGSDF build.

I don't think anyone has married her yet, so she's yours (I expect a good dowry, though)! How's the PB version coming?

Alright, so here's number five, the Mirage Hobby TKS in 1/35. This is probably the worst kit I've ever bothered to finish...wanted to chuck it several times! .... Awww, you shouldn't bad mouth Mirage kits. Them and RPM kits are tests of your true skills. If you can pull one off as nicely as you did, you're well on the way to being a great modeller! Besides, they really make you appreciate how good some of the other companies kits are!

The question is just whether or not I WANT to put myself through any more Mirage kits. I know I CAN, but is it worth the effort?
Unfortunately, the only other option for a TKS is from RPM! Hah!

Sorry for the wait, fellas - had the in-laws come visit for a few days and it completely threw me off of the rhythm I had established in February. I'm back on track, though, expect about five more in the next few weeks! This one is the Bronco 1/350 Kilo. Nifty little build, picked it up at Squadron for about 10 bucks. Tried the AK Kriegsmarine set on it - don't think I let the streaking stuff dry quite long enough, though...a lot of it disappeared.

I love it! I think streaking looks spot on as they look subtle and just right... it won't look right on modern sub especially US subs in my opinion.

It doesn't look as bad as we often see on WWII subs. I think you did it perfectly.
