LET'S GET IT ON!!!! Dupes and I are at it again. This time, we've set our sights on 1/32 F4U-1D Corsairs. I'll be doing the Trumpeter version: My build will be strictly (well, for the most part?)OOB. I intend to do the aircraft depicted in the box art. Dupes will be doing something far more elaborate, I am sure. And, knowing him and his build pace these days, he'll have completion pics up this afternoon (for my part, I will not start until after ValleyCon on 30 March - 41 days from today)... The duel... uhhhh dual..... ummm, I mean dool.... or is that duul.... ahh well, you get the idea! Whatever it is, IT'S ON!!!

I've not seen a Trumpy Corsair build, so I am looking forward to seeing how this kit holds up. They seem to be flying around in fire sales after the Tamiya release.

I'd love to be in the lead for at least a minute on this one, but with dupes' mad pace lately, I don't stand a chance!!!

No Tamiya for me - I'm also doing the Trumpeter kit (although in a Hobbycraft box...more on that later). Hard to pass these up when you can find them right around 40 bucks!
Full summary later after I can snap some pics.

Boyd,I was sorta hoping, that if I get a few things squared away, that you'd maybe let me tag along, even if it is with a later Corsair? At least that way,you may have someone that builds a bit slower.(Correction-finishes a LOT slower!!)If you aren't kicking off until end of March,I got a chance to build more shelves for my Queens!!!! (rofl)It would be a TRI al !!

Chris - if you're doing the same kit (Trumpy 1/32 F4U-1D) that's basically unstarted, then I don't see any reason why not?
Let us know what you've got and it's current status!

Since I just happen to have cleared my bench as of last night, I figured I'd best get started on this one. No rest for the wicked! Here's what I'm working with - Hobbycraft (Trumpeter molds) F4U-1D with an Aires cockpit and SAC landing gear. The reason I went with the HC kit is for the decals - great schemes, and they work REALLY well (anything after the late 90's or so...they changed their printing process somewhere along the way). Will be going with one of these two options: Top one is an RAAF scheme, bottom one is El Salvadoran (!) from 1969 during the Soccer War. Will be doing both eventually anyway, but I'm game to hear what you guys would like to see most. So I headed in full speed...finished steps 1-5 this evening, all having to do with the engine. This is 1.5 6"x8" sprues just to make this: ...most of which will never be seen again. Heh. More to come!

Steps 1 through 5!!!! Jeepers man!
Love that engine. Too bad it'll be hidden, but at least you'll know it is there.

Yeah, I guess. Once I have this one built and can determine which parts are invisible from the outside, I'll be eliminating those from the other three in my collection. Five hours worth of work for an engine face and some exhaust pipes!

It IS Trumpy, and it IS 1/32 ,and as I've already said,I can't get back on it for awhile anyways

Cee Bee - looks like you're good to go! Mine will actually represent an FG-1D, Boyd is doing an F4U-1D, so your F4U-4 will round out the trifecta. That is unless we can find someone to do a Trumpy kit with the Montex -1A conversion for the "quaduel". Yeah, I made that word up. Heh.

Chris - those are the snake markings (done by Aeromaster, if I remember correctly) that came with the kit? I like those. Dicky - yeah, I'm leaning that way as well. That way I can do my F4U-4 as a Honduran bird on the other side of the battle.
