Those tracks remind me of my childhood. Oh, I hated those kind of tracks...

Paul - I wrote Heller about the poor condition of the tracks in one of my AMX series kits using the form included in the box - couple of weeks later I received a replacement (much nicer) set from France.
They're still Heller AMX tracks, but they're a lot more usable!

Just make sure if you stick pencils up your nose they aren't the grease variety! Those tracks look like some kind of medieval torture device was used on them before they were packed in the box...

Sorry Squidmeister- cross posted there and nearly missed ya! Thanks a lot me ole china Luigi- it looks like a couple of fornicating eels and feels as slimey! Dupes- I got that set as well but its the blood knock out marks on the inside of every single pad that is seriously off putting Bill - What ever they've done to 'em they've ended up more like a modern torture device - you wouldn't think them french were all that hot on psych-ops t... until you open the box

Aint that the truth! Seriously considered building this as another range target or rust-bucket because of 'em. Unfortunately, I screwed up on my meds and started this bloody blog instead....

The tracks or your hat...? No work yesterday- for obvious reasons I've decided to leave the hull alone for awhile whilst I figure out some fixes so the next phase is going to be some work on the shootyboxthingy hope to have an update on progress soon

Some more turret work: Periscopes were blanked off with styrene, but I've left off the roof top scopes until later as they are supplied as clear plastic parts. Again some rather lovely sink marks on the mantlet; For reasons best known to themselves Heller supply two of the 20mm co-axial pieces. However, one of these is a flared barrel, but none of the (admittedly limited)images I've been able to locate of either the prototypes or early production B variants show this particular appendage. Go figure. Turret halves were brought together taking care not to damage or loose the basket locating dents ( 'cause they're not really holes!)that are moulded into the lower edge of the upper "half". Some rather careful sanding was required to keep these landmarks intact. Just to get a sense of how it's all looking; with some dry fitting and finally; my reference material; Slowly, slowly catchee monkee.... P

Thanks chaps. A picl-less update this time: Last night was more turret work , this time working on the commanders cupola. Because this is an updated(?) kit the instructions tell me how to build the B2 version (obviously) but unfortunately not the earlier straight forward B. The parts are provided so its been very much a case of trying various combinations until it looks right. Still haven't arrived at that point just yet. I've also been working on the replacement mantle cover. This took 3 re-do's before i was happy to committ glue. Some retains clips will still be needed- my poor eyes=-O
Off to work, hope to be able to post up some pics later! Ttfn P
