Thanks a lot Jack. Still haven't got around to those tracks yet instead tonight I've been furtling around with some more hull detail -lights, tow-hooks etc. Not much else to say really ...haven't bothered with pics. Hopefully something more substantial tomorrow. Nighty night!

But at least they're better than the mating snakes that came with the kit fella that's what I've got to keep reminding myself jackwagon! Andy- I think the turret is the nicest looking thing about this baby Bill - The primer is definitely making this thing look half-decent. Hopefully the final paint job(when it comes) wont screw that up

Bugger, Damn & Blast! I decided it was time to get a base coat on this and its been a bloody mess!!!!!! The first load of paint seemed to curdle in the airbrush - but I only noticed this after it seemed to clog. That's a lesson in ensuring starting with a properly cleaned airbrush! So off came the paint , I cleaned the brush and tried again but it wasn't playin'. So again off came the paint and after a rinse under running water I've put it aside to dry for a few days to make sure I don't end up with another mess! I'm going to leave this for a while ...

Maybe a real good cleaning will help... I meant to get one of those sonic jewelry cleaning machine I think my AB needs a real good cleaning. It doesn't spray like it was brand new... years ago!

Yup Andy i think I might invest in one of those - can pick em up fairly cheaply these days. - And could sell it to Mrs h as a jewellery cleaner as well.
The more i think about it though the more i think it might not have been residue in the brush as such. I think I might have messed up with the wrong thinner!
Bench time tonight will be a organization of my paints etc so i. don'tmix things up in the future.( I hope)

That's what I am afraid of being a rookie and all with an AB. I keep reading about experienced modelers having problems, I start to think... ...what chance do I have of ruining an expensive kit? Jeff

Jeff, Take the plunge- most of the problems I've had have been of my own making- rushing to get something done and the like. As long as you practice for a bit on an older kit or even just some styrene sheet to get a feel for things before you start"proper" it'll be fine. This problem has most definately been of my own making- so don't let it put you off. P

Recovery of sorts!
Fully air-dried I decided to keep away from the AB and instead used some Tamiya rattle can stuff from my stock. I went with Olive-Drab 2 (TS28) - a reasonably close approximation to the final shade. This seems to have gone on with out too many problems- but it didn't seem to like the main gun barrel- so I've had to take that back to plastic and will start again on that one later. I reckon/hope filters will hopefully square things up with the final shade. I've popped it all under-cover to cure for a couple of days before I do any more.

Thanks for the support guys. During the clean up i managed to dislodge the light guards and one of the headlights. Didn't notice the light was missing until this morning. Will have to sort coming out for that - ho hum! Edit: just noticed a few areas of the "underspray " so it will Need a few light passes to sort that but i should be able to do that without totally screwing it up.....

Some more work planned: Here is what should be on the back of this pig - the gerry dans are store horizontally in these frames rather than ther more ususal vertically. Needless to say Heller have opted for an easier( fictitious) set up: not sure if Ill need to scratcherise somfing or get away with modifying the existing items... More brain ache but it'll stop me from doin' something stoopid with the painting end of this.... P
