You could always have the other side be 'burnt out' for a little contrast... J/K, hope you can get a resupply on the tufts!

OK, no bellyaching about the pictures.......
Here is a couple of update shots. This time the figures are in their final positions, even though they aren't totally complete yet. The goal is the IPMS Region 3 show in Clackamas Oregon 23 September

This is the first offering in what will probably be several......
Here is the base and field grass complete. I "planted" all the tufts and weeds. Given the base a light coat of dust. Now all that's left is triple checking for seams, or errors in my planting.

Leon
Many thanks...... as we all know it's a labor of love... The Ferdinand is far from perfect.....it's kinda my F-4 Phantom.....lots of corrections along the way. It is sratchbuilt and it did take 5 full years, two surgeries two relocation's, and a whole bunch of swearing...... BUT she's finally darn near ready...
Again thank you for the kind words

Time to bring it across the finish line PJ! Your ground cover looks really good. One question! Have you thought about taking some outdoor pics in natural light? Your lighting looks awfully bright.

Typical - turns out the guy getting shot is the one bearing my surname Couldn't you have called him Meier? I admire your perseverance sticking with this for five years, and the result is making it worthwhile. I don't think I'd have the patience to stick with a project for that long - patience is a virgin

OK that's one vote to change his name to Meyer.....
I hadn't thought abooot that before....sorry......just pretend he's that cousin who's owed you money for years...LOL

Actually, both my grand dads were wounded on the Eastern front - they didn't know each other, but it was almost at the same time and only a few miles apart...

I'm changing his name to "Koenig"

Don't worry about it PJ - 'Schmidt' is a bit of a collective term anyway and only one of my grand dads had the name. If it makes you feel better, their injuries weren't that bad, but got them out of the front lines for a while anyway.

Well, I'm coming down the "homeward stretch". Here is the update on the final figure....which will lead me two a question....
the final figure is a Radio operator who is an officer candidate, to be complete with insignia. It's been a wee bit tricky, NOT NEARLY as tricky as the MG42 gunner on top of the Ferdinand......But still he's been a challenge. Here goes the picturesHere's my question..... I've been out of the competition world for many years. Does anyone know (or even care for that matter) in the IPMS world how many figures are considered to be classed a "vignette" versus classed as a diorama???

I was under the impression that the difference between vignettes and dioramas was down to size? But I have no idea at which point one turns into the other, and - what's more - I don't really care all that much. Your diognette/vigrama looks great, though.
