So, the past couple of days I've got it in my head that I want to build this kit as my next large project. I've just read through the entire WIP and now I'm not so sure. I'm dealing with the exact same molding issued you described on this one on the ZM 219...and I'm sick of it. Every single piece has mold seam flash that has to be removed. The ejector pin marks seem to be in the exact places to make them visible...it's frustrating because like you said with this one...the detail and engineering is good but the actual molding is a real let down.

I here you Jimmy. I think we all expect at least a fine seam line and some clean up should be expected. It's the nature of the process. But the poor registration of the molds after all the work the designers put into creating the fine details just KILLS my mojo. Getting parts to fit becomes an issue for sure. Round parts become oblong and detail goes away or needs to be filled. For me I need the winter to work on these super detailed kits so the outdoor distractions won't take over from the boring task of cleaning up every part. Some probably think I'm too negative or expecting perfection from a maker. No kits perfect, I just don't want to clean up what should have been addressed by simply aligning the molds.

I'm right there with you. If I weren't having to address those issues on every part I cut off a tree I'd be much further along in this build than I am. I's an emotional roller coaster. Depression and anger as I clean parts and assemble them, but when an assembly comes together or I start painting and weathering it's bliss because the kit it really nice otherwise.
As much as I REALLY want to build the Typhoon now...I just don't know if I'll be ready to go through that all again so soon...lol. But your work is certainly inspiring because otherwise the kit looks killer.

I'll add my piece to the Typhoon saga. I followed Ricks blog and it inspired me to build my first 1/24 scale kit since the ju87 came out.I bought the kit and I was not surprised when I got a look to see the mould lines and they are on every part but not near as bad as they were for Rick. the smaller round-section supports for the head armour were pretty bad but wing spars and the office framework were OK. When this is compared to Tamiya the alignment is quite a way behind. The softness of the plastic has to be taken into account when cleaning up 'cos small detail can be removed in a second!

Ultimately, it comes down to sucking up and getting over the shortcomings by recognizing what a kit can become. Not letting shortcomings win becomes the driving passion. What you learn and grow in skills is the big win. I'm glad I built it. You guys will too. Go for it jimmy. With your skills you'll put mine to shame.

Your build is great and very inspiring, Rick. Like they say imitation is the greatest form of flattery. A lot of the times it's someone elses build that ends up motivating me, and that's where we are with this one. I see a lot of potential in this kit...hence why I'm considering breaking my previous imposed scale limit. I think I'm sold...I just don't know where I'm putting it when done..................

I appreciate my build has inspired you. That truly is the best and most humbling compliment one can receive.
As far as space goes, I still haven't figured out where my typhoon will end up ... Or the Mossie ... Or the PT boat ... Or the 1/6 Kettenkrad ... Or the 1/6 schwimwagen ... Or the spitfire ... Oh well. I build because I like what what I build.
I'd love to get my hands on a 1/32 Lancaster if it ever hits the market ...
Build it and you to can find a box big enough it will fit in and stack in a corner

Lol. There's plenty of room to display OUTSIDE of the man cave in the rest of the house. As supportive as the misses is I don't know if I want to tempt it with build showing up above the fireplace. Lol.
The 1/32 Mossie will be a must, but beyond that I think I am going to have to cut back on multi engines a while

I joined this party late and you executed a beautiful finish on this. Highlights are the DD stripes, weathering and ordnance. Recently started my MDC Tiffy and I have seen much inspiration with your effort.

Caj, glad you've found a new model home. Gotta have fun and not get jacked up on one rivet to short. Great folks and great skills across the site for sure. We're hear to build plastic and some good natured funnin'. Look forward to seeing your first build on the site.
Bez, that's too funny and much appreciated. That gals' packing some serious heat for sure.
