Hello all I have been inspired Steve Ski’s Vietnam dioramas so I am working on a small diorama set during the 1968 TET offensive. The scene will consist of 7 US Marines and 1 Viet Cong figure. All of these I have sourced from the great Bravo 6 range. Here is the first of these he is a USMC Sharpshooter; he is firing the M14 rifle not the M16. As usual he is painted using Andrea and Vallejo acrylics. He will be dirtied up to blend in with the scene when all figures are complete and I move on to the basing stage. Please enjoy Dennis

Thanks Lads for the kind comments.
Tobi after much trial and error I have gone for a base colour of Andrea NAC-04 Field Grey with a touch of Vallejo AV 807 Medium Gray. For the highlighted areas I have added extra AV 807 Medium Gray to the base colour. For shadowed areas I added Vallejo AV 950 Black to the base colour. You can get a different tone to the basic uniform colour if you substitute Vallaejo AV 830 Field Grey WWII instead of the Andrea. I also add a touch of Vallejo Matt Medium to my mixes to prevent the dreaded sheen. I hope this helps. Dennis

How long did I have those Bravo6 stuff on my buying list, they are so top notch detailed it must be the hell of fund to paint them! Very good how you handled the almost difficult to paint greenish grey hue so typical for the Vietnam style figures, and the detail painting of all those greatly modeled details. Did you see the Vallejo olive set with six colours? I am very curious if this is THE olive set needed. Can´t wait for the rest of the figures!

Hello lads Here is the next Bravo 6 US Marine. He is described as "Rock & Roll" that is to say he is firing his M16 on fully automatic in a bid to suppress the enemies fire, his pose of firing over a wall supports this. Again Andrea & Vallejo acrylics were were used to paint this guy. This is a very dynamic pose that radiates the tension of the situation. Thanks for looking and for all your kind comments on figure one. Cheers Dennis

Thanks Gents once again for your support. Andy more Marines will follow these guys, Frank I am working on the base, it is the biggest one I have ever constructed, I will post a WIP on the base later today (after work). Leon I agree, this chap has just the right expression; Vladimir Demchenko is a wonderful sculptor. You do not have to substitute his heads, they are spot on. See you all soon Dennis

If you have in your mind to use the Bravo figurines I know, I have to closely watch your topic. You've already made such a beautiful demonstration! Keep it on, my friend, a tip top diorama is coming! Nicolae

Hi guys thanks again for the support and the kind comments As promised here is a couple of poor photos of the base. In my minds eye I had an idea of a small workshop or shop front. I decided to go with the workshop idea. I plan to have the Marines moving across the scene from left to right as you look at it. The small wall provides a point of cover behind which the marines will be regrouping trying to win the firefight before moving on. The base is made out of 6mm MDF with Sapelle veneer over that, the walls are made from plaster covered foam board. the workshop gates/doors are made from plasticard with Historex decorations left over in the spares box. The lamp is from Plus Models. The second photo has a figure placed on it to give a sense of scale. There is still a long way to go on both the base and the figures, but as I make progress I will post more. Cheers Dennis

Yep, real great Base. But where do you want to place the VC? And any title for the dio? I could think of something like MOVE IN, MOVE IN! Anyway, this looks superb!
