Mig did a similar cover, but not this one with the "tractor-type" square cover. Would be a VERY interesting scratchbuild!

I could have used that tarp for mine. Would have saved a lot of time.
Marc... open hatches? Not many. Turret hatch is small but the only only one onthe turret. 2 larger ones ovr the inside crew and tranny area but that's about it.

Hahaha...you said "tranny". Yeah, I'm finding that it won't be any HUGE loss that I can't interiorize this thing. I'll do it on one of my DML or Tristar kits in the future.

I don't see Tristar kits at hobby shops so I assumed they have folded... my mistake! Good to know they are still in business. Hoping to see more...

Of course, I don't remember the last time I saw a NEW release from them...probably their 222s a couple of years ago. They've been weird about distribution - hardly carried anywhere.

The website is a 'ghost' site...the company itself is no longer in business or making new kits and it's been that way for over a year. Whatever you find in the online shops or elsewhere is just what they happen to have on hand in existing inventory. The kits still circulate a fair bit but that's from stash sales and such more than anything else as time goes on.

As Bill said earlier in this thread, they really set the gold standard for the 38(t) kits. I'm kinda bummed that they are no more... PS On another note, I apologize that I have not really started on my build. Had a paper to write this week for a class I'm taking, so that has consumed most of my time. However, I just submitted the paper so I hope for some bench time this evening when we get home from dinner at a friends.

Rod - I'm in the same boat - 38(t) chassis' galore! We'll have to make the 38 variants GB happen sooner rather than later.

Truly unfortunate...they make (made) some really nice stuff. Now my hoovering up of several Pz.I kits at Armorcon a few months ago looks like a genius move!

Now that I've started the TriStar kit I wish I hadn't traded away the other kit.

Have couple of Tristar Pz IVs in stash... Yeah! Have you looked at some of the prices folks are asking for Tristar kits on E-Bay? $64 for the 38(t) E/F??!!!Granted, it comes with a PE set and the Squadron/Signal book, but $64??!!! YIKES!!! I'll hold onto my Tristar stash and use it to fund the kids' education!

THAT'S the eBay way... supply and demand. And it's only evilBay for those that cannot cope with it. Jeff

So I got a start on the 38(t) G from Dragon. First couple steps all deal with the running gear and lower/rear hull. The running gear is semi-articulable, but I'm sure I'll glue it into place once I decide how I want it. The fit of the wheels is pretty loose, so I cannot take a good shot of everything dry-fit since it all just falls off as soon as I put it down. I have to say, Dragon calls this a "Smart Kit" but some of what they did is, to me, just dumb. Four connection points for each road wheel! Clean up on those will take a bit o' time... Ah well, that'll give me something to do tonight I guess! Here is where we stand so far:

Ah, good - I had pretty much just eyeballed the sit of the wheel mounts on mine, looks like I got it just about right.
I don't recall - was this one going to be "OOB"?

I've got some AM for the MG barrels (the Dragon ones look weird to me, but I'll have to assemble the guns before I make a final call). Also have one of the tool sets from CyberHobby, but I think they are the same as came in the kit. So, yeah, unless I get a crazy desire to get the Griffon etch set for the exterior, this one is OOB.

Nice work there Boyd!! Making some decent progress with this one. I should be working on a few other things but could not resist to try and hammer some things out on my build!! First off the blocks was unpacking the PE that showed up the other day! There is quit a bit of shiny stuff in the package. Whether I choose to use it all will be determined along the way...LOL!! I slammed together the hull and suspension. Nothing to out of the ordinary as you would figure. I did manage to make the suspension actually movable but the springs don't exactly work so that was pretty much mute...for the most part! That I will explain a bit later on. Slinging the brass, I popped the smoke discharge box together. Not exactly going for a clean look with the vehicle so the roughened look will do for me!! Engine....... Nothing is fixed into place at this time, so just showing what is ready to go here....driver's compartment: Engine Compartment..... Some innards and the rear deck: Lastly, the glacis plate. So far, I went with the Griffon version. The kit part is close to the same thing and the hatch can be positioned open...yeah, I'll keep it for the moment! Oh yeah....some wheels! Next stop...more of the Brass Highway! The fenders are on the edge of the bench!!! That's all for now!! Back to the "work" side of the hobby for me tonight!! Thanks for tuning in!!

Figured I'd better update where I'm at. Would be a LOT farther along, but my Friday day off turned into a complete wash when I found out that daycare was "closed for black friday". Of course, I still got the priviledge of paying for daycare. Anyhoo, snuck in a bit of build time tonight! Got the hull all sealed up, Friul replacement sprockets/idlers in, started in on the tracks and some of the etchery, and one of the Armorscale MGs installed:
