I use any epoxy putty the comes as a single, 2 color rod that you cut off a length and work it together. I'm picking some up today. Hey Marc! Went to Michael's during my lunch break and I couldn't find the epoxy putty you were talking about. Maybe Ace Hardware has them? I hope to attach the torpedoes to the sub before the weekend so it will be dry solid by time I return from camping. Thanks partner!

First off Andy... awesome paint. Love the blue fish. Certainly not the blue fish I used to go for trolling in the Atlantic in St. Augustine, FL You'll have better luck at a hardware store for sure. I know you'll have no problem at all at Home Depot or Lowes. This is the stuff I got recently. There are different "uses" on the labels but that makes no difference. they are all epoxy putty. You want one that has about a 25-390 minutes work set and sets hard in 60. Full cure is overnight but it pretty solid in an hour. There's a log inside the tube with the 2 parts one inside the other. For a big chunk an even slice of the log is the perfect ration. i usually take a screwdriver and take little pieces of each color make little balls and keep them separate so it all doesn't get hard before i get to it. Just pair the different balls off so they are the same size for the 1:1 ratio. Make sure you clean your fingers after kneading the putty. Don't want that hardening on there Great for welds too. Did some fading this AM. very sublte but shows up better when oyu're really eyeballing it. Post shading, deals, and dot filters to come.

LOL! Blue fish... that's something I want to try one day. Thank you so much for the photo and advise... it truly is going to be very helpful. Will stop by hardware on my way home... Fantastic work on the paint... looking great as I can see the dark shades from here! I noticed its hard to take good pics of the color grey itself so I really need to use a very good camera not my iPhone.

I was thinking that anything from this point was going to have to include the camo dots too. Not being 1005 certain what it was going to look like when I pulled off the first 3 or putty balls I started to get excited. It was a very slo-mo Xmas package unwrapping. I am more than pleased with the results. I'll take some close up pics later. Each dot has a faint fuzzy edge. Just what I was going for.

The dot/spot camouflage paint job reminds me a lot on some kind of whales who look similar. Great idea for a boat like this and very pleasing!

Frank - Thanks, glad you like her.
T - Thanks. I know getting to the finish is the goal but sorry to see this one end. Lot of fun doing something this different. This could have been a comfort zone build too I guess.

Man, I love those streaks!!! Another stunning coming out of wing-nut man cave... no question about it! Glad we did the duel and I look forward to another one... I need to speed up for sure. LOL
DAMN! I can't wait to finish mine... not much bench time this week as you know I have been busy doing stuff for the Boy Scouts as we are going camping this weekend.

Little update... probably last one for next 3-4 days. Cleaned up the front a bit with more post-shading and it looks better now I think. More process on the torpedoes... hoping I will finish them tonight if I can finish packing for the camping trip early enough.

Came out a real looker there Marc! Nice to see that Andy's not too far behind with his either. As for the Boy Scout trip Andy, better pack warm. We're getting snow even here from this weather front!

Hey fellas... Thanks for the nice comments. Andy keep the color of those fish in your mind. That's what your skin is gonna look like at about 2 in the morning.

Thanks guys! We are all packed... weather is looking better as it will be in 40's and low 20's over the weekend. Managed to finish the torpedoes tonight. Think the painting part is over so I can move to the next stage. Thanks for looking!

Yeah, all the best for you and the boys on your trip. Do not forget insect sray, anti bear spray, maybe anti elk spray and anti Karibu spray. Enough eat and drink of cause and anti cold medicine, hehe!
The torpedos look great. I don´t know if you do any weathering on them (or aren´t they weathered anyway. The originals I mean...).
Cheers,
Frank

LOLOLOLOL! Good idea about the cold medicine... I forgot about that one! Gonna add it to my list to pack! Thanks! Glad you liked the torpedoes. Yes they will be weathered a bit... read some articles that the Germans had them heavily greased because there are no protection from salt water on the torpedoes.
