Can't believe I missed this thread!! Awesome to see everyones different approach to this kit! @ ANDY....I bet you started to get a "sinking feeling" and had to gasp for "air" after opening the figure box lol For the amount of money you paid, you would expect the figure to be crisply casted! It looks like he has one of those mini bananas in his hand (your guess is as good as mine!) and most of it looks sloppy in general. I hate having to wait for a figure to find out that it's a bum deal. I just picked up a figure from Polish company Mantis...I was expecting the worse but it's up there with Alpine etc. LOL! You nailed it... I was like WTF?!?! I expected something better. I was surprised that somebody in the quality control allowed this to happen. Like I said I will be keen to order more from that maker Royal Model. LOL I think it will come out OK... still need to fill in those air bubbles around the body before I can have it primed and painted soon!

Guys, disaster has struck last night... one of the torpedoes fell off the bench! DAMN! Two of propellers bent. Lost one of those tiny PE pieces for the front propellers. LOL Was going to have everything primed but spent most of night fixing it up. Hope nothing happens tonight except for spraying primer on it...

Bummer about the fish. Bent not so bad that it can't be bent back? For the arming prop at the front/... take off all the little prop blades and sand that nub smooth. If you have JLC razor saw make a cut for a slot to add in a little piece of some scrap PE fret. That's how I did mine. Did the preshading and you know what I noticed? DAMN my hands are shaky LOL. Had to go over each one a 1/2 dozen times just to hit the line

You may have a point Leon. Now that I think about it... it may have been the martinis yesterday.

Nothing wrong with the shake marc, adds some muddled undertones! Nice to see the shading going down!! Keep those fires lit!! Andy....sorry to hear about the propellers..wishing you got that Kriegmarine scratching his head in disbelief over the FUBAR'ed fish on the ground! Sure you have things well in hand getting it back in shape!!

Sorry to hear about the fish drop Andy! They can be a challenge to keep all in one piece throughout for sure...hope you can get it repaired without too much effort. Nice pre-shading Marc, had to chuckle at the shaky-hands statement...good thing you got multiple passes at it!

Shaking hands? Can't handle seeing many nice looking resin female figures here at MSC? Nah, it will look just fine once painted. LOL I was able to repair the fish... easy fix... clean break not bent! I was able to spray primer on them all last night. Black primer on torpedoes and the seaman. Light gray on the mini-sub. Don't think I will return to the bench tonight... big game... go Colts!

NO... NOT HOT RESIN WOMEN Glad you able to recover. And the primer looks great. Looks like we are gettin' down to the real nitty gritty here. 2 episodes of "Firefly gets you all the little balls. Top of the hull also painted a very light gray. I agree with Bill, white would have been too stark. 2 "Big Bangs" and a "Friends" (just listening this time ) gets you this... Ready for the darker gray. Fingers crossed!

Mr T- Yeah the game sucked... LOL At least I was happy about the result from my bench. Glad you liked it... much easier using Vallejo paint now.
Marc- Thanks partner! I find it very easy to go overboard sometimes. To prevent from it happening again, I thin my paint very heavily like 70/30 or so and I do few runs until I am satisfied. Probably 10 times or more! CAN'T WAIT to see the spots soon!
Bill- Thanks professor! Me too... love how we do things differently in modeling.

Another great night at the bench. I am afraid I will not have much bench time for next few days since boys and I will be gone camping for Boy Scouts. Yes, we get to sleep in the tent in middle of ferkin' winter! LOL So much to get ready to ensure we are warm enough... If you remember my choice, torpedoes are supposed to be blue... I didn't like that look so doing a little artistic interpretation I opted for blue-ish gunmetal finish from Vallejo and I think I like it... Hope you like it too. I still need to paint the nose red... Continued to work on the mini-sub... did some post-shading using lighter and darker tones of grey. Its hard to catch the true look with my iPhone. I think I need to spray little more on front parts. Thanks for looking guys!

Andy, when you are going to have some outdoor adventures with your Boys take care not becoming Frosty the snowman! It is really cold in here and I have no idea to have a sleep in the tent outside my warm fireplace. Nope, Sir! But all the best for that! And do not forget something to warm you stomach AND your soul!!
The Torpedos looks quite good in your artistic interpretation. Metallic blue is a well choosen colour for that. And the boat itself rocks till now!
