The seaman is 95% complete... it only needs oil washes and little weathering. Tried my best to paint on the black uniform... not any easier than usual uniforms. And I want him to look very pale. Figured submarine crew doesn't see much sun either! Thanks for looking!

Having just painted my own first figure at the same scale and a fraction of the quality of your figure, I'm extraordinarily impressed at the detail and care you've accomplished here. Very well done!
(How do you get such perfect tiny eye dots!?)

Nice work. You even made that thing in his hand look like a pipe. I love that dockside base you found too. After seeing a dio of a full hull Seehund on the dock and a waterline in the water I thought a cool variation would have been to have one suspended form a crane over the water. Not that I am trying to put an ideas in your head that might make you go further Especially since you're soooo close the being finished.

Looks nice! The face is cool, painted and sculpted, looks like a "real character". What brand is it??? As I see you have painted the highlights on the black uniform in grey. Try some mixtures of black and Sunny skin tone from Vallejo for mixing a warm highlight for black clothes. But if this is leather in natural it might not work as good as on imitiating "normal" clothes.

(How do you get such perfect tiny eye dots!?) Thanks Delta! I enjoy painting figures more than anything else. I am afraid this sea man is not my best work so far... its hard to paint without strong details that I have seen on Alpine or Evolution figures. But I did my best and I will live with this... LOL How did I paint perfect tiny eye dots? It pays to have very good expensive paint brushes. I use Winston & Newton Series 7 and I am big fan of those... pricey but they last forever. Most of my Series 7 brushes are 2-3 years and they are going strong as long as you take a good care of them after painting. After you paint the dot, it is rarely perfect, I go back to the dark flesh paint and paint carefully against the top and bottom parts of the eye pupils. Sometimes it takes few attempts! LOL Hope this helps...

Bill- Thanks my fav professor! That's what I was aiming for but it looks better now after I added some pinkness to his cheeks last night. Leon- Thanks my fav wizard! LOL! Sure send them over but I can not promise if you will ever get them back!!! Marc- Thanks my favorite partner! Nope, the pipe came with it... that's why I had to buy it. LOL I thought about so many things I could do with the base including a crane but I didn't want to drag this build too long since I need to finish it and couple other small builds in time for the model show on March 15th. I have about six weeks left... Mr T- You missed my update?!?!? OMG! I am so hurt... LOL No worries... figured you were too busy playing with your sexy female resin figures again. Thanks boss!!! Frank- Thanks my fav fan! The figure is made by Royal Model... I wish it was better when I first opened the box. It required more care than most resin figures. I felt it was overpriced as I paid about $24 just for this guy and the quality was inferior to others especially Alpine and Evolution. But it was the only player for U-boat crew as there were not many options out there... My approach is different as I learned from my old mentor. Never paint base coat in black... instead of black, go for dark gray or black gray. I used Vallejo Black Gray as bisect so that way I can use black paint for depth and lighter grey for highlighting. Less that work in my opinion... LOL

Worked on the sea man little more last night... didn't spend much time at the bench because I was not feeling good last night. Now I am sick with something that I had to call in sick today... Added pinkness to the cheeks and I am pleased now... Applied oil washes last night so it can dry overnight.

Feeling little better I managed to do some work last night. I think the sea man is done... The base has been primed... used the Mr Surfacer 1000 rattle can instead of my airbrush... too lazy! LOL Then I did the pre-shading. Can't wait to spray base coat on it tonight!

You mean Royal Model from Spain?? Just wondering because I have done some of their resin figs and they were all nice and crisp. But haven´t seen much from them the last years...
Andrea did some very good german U-Boat men as pewter figures and they are extemely well done. Do not know prizes over there but in Germany, they range up to 25 Euro. Very expensive of cause!

Yep! Didn't realize it was from Spain. I saw several nice figures but most were for smaller scale especially 1/72. That's the one I got... I was disappointed as soon as I opened the box... the quality was not as good as others. Maybe I got bad one... but good thing the face was still good or it would have ruined the whole experience. There were many air bubbles on the body that i had to fill with CA. But it came out good... just little more work than I expected. Hope it helps...

That looks bad, Deaf, badder than anything I have seen from them. MAYBE they changed the caster... Pegaso had a similar problem some years ago. They changed from their original caster to a new, cheaper one in Greece, and the first castings of new figures were an absolute no go. But they got it and in a small time, the castings becomes excellent. But I have never seen such a bad cast like the one you have gotten. And from Royal Modell, hell, what a disappointment... Thanks for the pics and info, dude!

Looks like I missed a couple more...LOL! Nice job on the figgie Andy!! He is looking the part for sure!! Nice shading on the base too!! moving right along now!! Not sure what to say about quality of the Royal figs...and I had a couple in mind to pick up too. Needless to say I am a bit gun-shy now! Keep pushing on this one!! You need to free up a small space in a few days ya know!!!

Leon- Thanks my friend! Yes finally feeling a lot better... unfortunately not much bench time as I have been busy helping my son with his school project as he is doing a small diorama of American Revolution. LOL
Frank- That's why I was disappointed after spending $24 on this freaking one figure. LOL But I was able to make it look better. I am not sure if I want to buy more figures from Royal Model again unless I look inside the box at those model shows first.
Mr T- I am curious about other figures from Royal Model if they are any better... maybe I got the bad one. How in the world can they miss the huge blob attached to the hand when they made it?!?! LOL Perhaps too much Spanish vinos? Glad you like my sea friend... hope to work on the base later tonight! Thanks boss!

Sorry for being slow... it was a busy weekend so didn't have much bench time. At least I had fun helping my youngest son with his school project on American Revolution. The "Duel"... He did all of painting by himself. Things went well until he squeezed one of paint bottles too hard that the nozzle came off. There was red paint all over my bench and the shelves. Miraculously the paint missed my mini-sub right next to it!!! Todd owes me one bottle of Vallejo flat red paint... The torpedoes are now permanently attached to the sub... loved the epoxy putty! Thank you Marc! The base has been painted... weathering is NEXT! Just noticed I forgot to paint the ropes around the wood posts. LOL

Of course it would be the red paint that would be spread everywhere...it never happens with something less dramatic! Nice progress on the fish Andy. They look nice and mean now that they are mounted.

Leon- Thanks my friend... me too glad it didn't get any of that red paint or I would have cussed out aloud. LOL
Bill- No kidding... it has to be either red or blue... they are hard to clean for sure! LOL Thanks for stopping by professor!
