Thanks Bill. So far, so good. I managed to get a few decals on yesterday and this morning. There is a little wrinkling in the pictures, but a good dose of Solvaset pretty much cured it. I'm hoping to get a few more on tonight and again tomorrow morning. Thanks again for following

Thanks Leon. There's a whole story in the instructions about how the plane got her name. From what I remember the plane was named after an Australian lady named Dora with language so colorful, she could make sailors blush. About 10 years ago, I asked my uncle what his plane number was. He didn't have one. He said only the squadron commanders had their own planes. The aircrews flew the planes they were assigned to on that day.

Not trying to rub it in but when I read that guys have to wait for weather condition to change to be able to paint make me appreciate the indoor, albeit cramped, painting area in house.
But I will add that it was worth the wait. SWEEEEET!

Nice progress with the decals Bruce. From what I understand the rotating crews and planes was a pretty common practice particularly in the Pacific as opposed to having 'assigned' birds to one crew all the time. That may have been due to the fact that many units often had more aircrew personnel than serviceable aircraft at any given moment due to the relatively harsh operating conditions in that theater, particularly the South Pacific areas, vs. the ETO.

Thanks guys. I may not have too much bench time for the next few days, but she'll be waiting for me when I get back at it. That was the impression I got too Bill. From what Uncle Al told me, they really didn't know how many planes they would have in the air from day to day (for all sorts of reasons). I vaguely remember him mentioning spare crews a long time ago too.

Thank you Jimmy, This was the first time I have used any Accurate decals. They laid smooth, and were nice and thin. Solvaset worked on them great. I'm hoping a few more of these kits get picked up in the future.

Hello all, I did get the engines finished and installed. You can actually see some of the wiring and rocker arms through the cowlings. Somehow, I split one of the seams on the nose, so I have to fix that, then it away we go (fingers crossed). Thanks again for looking in.

Engine looks good mounted to the wing Bruce, good to hear you'll be able to show off some of it with the cowls on.
