I've already posted most of these in the earlier threads. But will consolidate the whole build here.
These are the first ships we see in the new movie as well as the first place we see our main character, FN-2187 (Finn).
There's a surprising quantity of quite good detail available about these ships online. It would seem that the studio released detailed information for various promotional items, like Lego's, online artists, toymakers as well as an intriguing 1/6 display in Hong Kong. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJHHiz8vq_s
And to be clear:
Is really just one of these:
I've finished a display stand for the model. The final design will be about 18" (45cm) long.
Plastic sheet and tools are ready.
We just need the calendar to tick over to to February.

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!
When detailing the interior, I think you could use the good old gizmology and improving it with interior of actual troop transporters. Have seen pics of a Verlinden build of a C-130 Hercules, where he scratched the interior. This might be similar to a fictional troop transporter.
I started out with the traditional paper cutter but found that it would work fine for thin stock, but would produce a chamfered edge on 1mm or thicker. The rotary cutter allows me to snap the heavier stock at a nice 90 degree angle.
Dupes: Yes. It's meant to be used to crop down photographs for mounting into frames. But the razor sharp cutting disk leaves a nice line in the top of sheet stock, which is then easy to break/snap.
Lost a few hours of build time today due to needing to produce my own Hoth Base in the driveway.
Thanks Chris! Yes the interior will be lighted. Have you ever noticed how dark all the interiors on the Imperial stuff always was? If they ever had a power outage, the Death Star would have been like the inside of a cave. They arrived yesterday, just before the snow!
Additional framing items added.
I'm beginning to see that the "shoebox" will actually go pretty fast. The time consuming part will be in building all the exterior detail, like 4 engines, pilot's compartment and doodads and wingdings which need to attach to the drive section.
It's been neat to see how much interest there's been in the G.B.
If praise and ridicule did not exist, who would you be?
Great stuff John, and lighting!! Bang on mate!! If this was manufactured by a big player it would sell like hotcakes with all of the Starwars madness going on. I really admire your work ethic, roll on sir!!
