Alright, picked something out! 1/48 Tamiya Panther G. Cut open the packages to start eyeballing the plastic...this will hopefully be a speedy build that I can get to the paint stage quickly!

Now THAT'S gonna be fun to watch come together. I'm glad you think it'll be quick. It would take me half a year to build something like that. Hell it takes me half a year to build an auto build. lol

Hah! The only remotely tricky part will be the tracks. But they're link-and-length, probably about 15 parts for each side...so even that won't be too bad.

That 1/48 Tamiya Panther G builds up quick and easy. The link and length tracks are no major speed bump. And they look really good once completed.

Glad to have you active and in this one Dupes, did this one still have the metal hull,or were they gone by then?

Glad to have you active and in this one Dupes, did this one still have the metal hull,or were they gone by then? This one DOES have the die-cast chassis (it's hiding under the plastic hull in the pic). Did they get rid of them in later boxings?

Not on the kits that had them, but later 1/48 releases were all plastic

You're talking like EVERY Tamiya 1/48 armor kit? Not just the Panthers? I had no idea. Apparently I need to open up some of my later releases! I never understood why they did them in the first place (honestly, it's kind of a pain having to assemble major hull bits with super glue). "Added weight" seemed suuuuuper gimmicky.

Yes,the early ones had it,I did a JS-2 that was regular, they did away with it on the later ones

The Kubelwagen was all plastic 😉 But then again, not much room for any die cast weight on the little guy…🤔

I'd like to take part with this oldie I retrieved from the stash I will probably receive some aftermarket help, and some homebrew improvements. Possibly a new turret as well.

DAMN IT! I hope I am not too late to the party. I love group builds and I think it is one of the reasons why I finish my builds. Believe it or not I always wanted to build a Panther because it is the ONLY panzer variant that I HAVEN'T built. I have built Pz I, II, III, IV and VIs so I am definitely interested. I don't know which kit yet so I will have a good talk with my kits tonight and see which kit steps up to be the next victim.
Stay posted...

Sounds good Andy,I still remember your Panzer III group build and still have the badge LOL! I had way too much fun running that GB and we almost hit our objection of building EVERY variant from Ausf A to N along with odd variants too. Unfortunately Photobucket ate all of my images including the badge. I am glad you are starting a GB of something I always wanted to build! It will be fun!!!! But I need to finish couple of my current builds fast before I can start another one...

We had some pretty killer GBs at FSM back in the day. I'd love to see all of this come back!
