I know Trae really had fun. Thank you to the guys for making her feel welcome. As you saw, she's not shy, and it's better than the alternative. She has an auto immune disorder that makes her confused and bed ridden during a flair, you can hardly understand her when she does say anything. I'd rather her rattle on and happy than confused tired and crying. Thanks for you patience guys, she's still learning the hobby and really enjoys it. That's a combo that's hard to find.
Man she didn't bother me at all. I thought she was funny. Great to meet you both.

It'll not be forgotten I can tell you that.

She purchased a 1/35 Villa building and was pissed when she opened it and found out she needed to put it together 🤣 I told her it was a kit. Then she won a kit of Marine figures and said "I have to put these guys together too!!" OH man, she was killing me. So the next thing I won was a display model of the USS Indianapolis in a small box....then I told her the story of its fate. She had a blast.

Thank you for all the info! Fortunately for me she is a good sport about these things. As I have drug her to many races while on vacation. And she indulges me when we go places like automotive or aircraft museums. But We always plan out things that will interest her and be sure we get those done. Lol. The good news about Madison is that really isn’t too far away. Definitely something to consider. Yep! I am planning on going to Madison and many of members from my local club too. I think it would be great if you can join our next club meeting this month or September to make new friends then attend our local show in April 2024. If your wife enjoys those, then take her to Madison too! I might bring my wife too but she monitors my purchases very closely so it can be a drawback. LOL My wife will be monitoring my purchases very closely at any show I might go to. I can tell you that. 😂🤣

Congratulations Terry ( mrt51 )! One of two of us that were there that walked away with awards. Russ was the other one with his Challenger. Exceptional work bud.

Congratulations on your wins! I really love the truck - the paintwork puts int in the "exceptional" category.

I've said it elsewhere, I'll say it here. Those buckles are tacky af. But congrats in the win you guys.
So...any of us doing any bitching about judging? Or has that been reserved for the dopes on FB? 🤣

Or has that been reserved for the dopes on FB? 🤣 I am soooo behind the curve. Buckles? What buckles? Oh, THOSE buckles! Yeah, tacky. But at least there’s no mistaking where they came from! Hey, at least they were not horseshoes mounted on a burned wood base. Flat plaques are always preferable, as they can be repurposed as diorama bases. So let’s hear some tales from the contest!

Congrats for all that placed!
Let's leave the judging "issues" for FB. No need for that here.

Or has that been reserved for the dopes on FB? 🤣 There's not been any of that going on here thankfully. There was nothing but good talent at that show and even though I didn't place with anything I brought, I knew that there was just better stuff on the table. In short....I had a GREAT time and yes siree....we'll leave the complaining to those on FB. They can have at it.

Indeed. No interest in it. I'm frankly tired of guys who constantly brag about not caring about construction losing comps where construction quality is all that matters, then whining about it and wanting the judging changed to favor them.

The judging issues I've seen on FB have to do with them picking models up and/or damaging while handling them, not the actual judging of models.
But nuff said eh!

I was literally 13 minutes away but opted to stay with my daughter and granddaughters. My son-in-law wanted to go but said we would need to take my 2 year old grand daughter.... to which I responded 'not a good idea'. Anyhow, sounds like those who went had a great time.

That's what always gets my attention. Yes there's always good aircraft, armor, and ships. But I like ones that really take some imagination to do.

I think "mind-blowing" models can take any form. I saw an old Airfix Lancaster rebuilt to eye-watering levels of detail. And a 1/72 Abrams with working everything and a REMOVABLE engine pack. Oh, and there was that octopus diving thing: That's why I love going to model contests. That bust is more like a piece of art than a model in a contest!
