Man....the details that are going into this are insane.....the tool boxes, damaged fenders....pistol port!! Fantastic work on this beautiful replication Jukka. I do have to ask about the pistol port. I see that the plug for the hole is on the outside of the tank, (forgive my ignorance of this detail) is the intent for the crew to have the ability to use a pistol from inside the tank? I'm just curious because the plug being on the outside of the turret.

Thanks a lot! Yes, idea of that those ports is that crew can push it open from inside and shoot near enemies there. Of course situation is quite desperate if enemies are that close. And when pushed out, it leaves hanging outside and can be drawn back into it's place.

Now I understand. Pretty neat approach to close quartered defense.

You are doing this kit justice, I love all the added details.
Any idea yet what you're going to do with the paint and weathering?

WOW! I'd hate to paint it now because it will cover everything. Sometimes I find it cool to see all of the brass like this. Keep up with the great work!

That's true. But fortunately all added details and wasted time can be shown in wip photos.

A small update today. I noticed a little difference between early/late models in lower hull and it's the front mg assembly. Often late models had mg in front and early only a pistol port. Again my friends infine stash helped me and he gave me parts for late model. After few beers I couldn't help myself and added last details to turret hatch.

Much nicer than the ancient Tamiya KV-2 kit from way back in the Nixon Administration days…

Beautiful pup! What breed is it? For some reason it reminds me of snow fox or something like that!
Superb work on the hatch... I am blown away!

Man this just gets better and better. May I ask what you use for the enhanced surface texture? I’ve got a couple Russian beasts in the stash, I’d like to incorporate a better texture to the steel.

Thank you. It's just tamiya putty diluted with green cap cement and then stippled to surface. Very easy and effective.

Excellent details, The port on turret and light / horn wiring are often forgotten items. First cooling air intake deflector I've seen added also.

After a layer of vms metal primer to etched parts, I primered everything with black primer. No more shine. A couple of spots need fixing, but nothing serious.

I know I am not alone but I love the look of primed builds! I usually use black primer on my figures and busts too.

Thats true with priming. Had to say that all those surface textures looked way better when primed. Today I had a little bench time and I fixed those few spots and primed fixed areas again. Also started assembling tracks to other side also. I like masterclub tracks a lot, sadly those are now unavailable..

"Is very good, you build my tank." I have a Trumpy KV-II that has been sitting around for ages in an unfinished state. Your superlative build gives me a Russian kick in the pants to finish mine. "In Mother Russia, you no kick pants. Pants kick YOU!"
