I have a Trumpy KV-II that has been sitting around for ages in an unfinished state. Your superlative build gives me a Russian kick in the pants to finish mine. Thanks! It's nice to hear that my work can motivate others too. Your build looks great and seems that it's not far from finishing it!

Have to admit that i have bought a couple of civilian car models to build. But those will be still done a little different way than usual.

My model was intended from the start to be a minimal build, but mission creep set in and it ended up with a metal gun barrel and tracks. I'd better listen to Stikpusher and finish it soon. I know a guy who's specialty is mud.

That reminds me of a story told to me by a friend who used to drive M60s in Germany. He said the wall of mud going up the glacis plate was in slow motion without sound. The last thing he saw was a frog, before the tidal wave of mud enveloped him and the open hatch. He spent the rest of the day hosing out his tank.

Yup, that's a drivers helmet all covered in mud. I remember watching such an event at Fort Polk long ago. We crossed the creek ahead of some tanks... slowly so as not to have this happen... but not the tanks, first one went thru full bore and had that nice muddy wave... on the other side they stopped and the driver pulled down his goggles to reveal a clear spot on his face and so that he could see again... lol!

Some paintwork today. It's not exactly what I wanted, but I think I can live with it. A couple of filters should give it a proper look. No washes etc yet, just pure airbrush work.

That looks superb. Please continue so I can crib weathering techniques. Thanks! Well my weathering is always a little experimental, fixing errors back and forth so some "don't do's" will occur for sure. Base coat was mrp 4BO. That mixed with tamiya green yellow was used for highlighting. Last step was shadow areas using ammo shaders. It went a little too yellowish for my taste, but as I said a couple filters will solve it.

Thanks for everyone. Today I painted maybe the most characteristic detail of this tank, the 12th pz division emblem. Scetched it carefully with pencil and then just painted it with brush and acrylic paint. After that I gave a pin wash to whole turret with sepia colored oil paint. A few drops of vms oil expert helps with drying time. As I was a little worried about the color being too yellowish, I think it turned out pretty good after filter and wash toned it down a bit. What do you guys think?

You did great painting the emblem! The paint usually tones down after a weathering job so I think you nailed it.

Last night I started to do some chipping. Sadly it's my last week of summer holiday, so this night modeling fun doesn't last long. Anyway, used my normal method of chipping, lighter base for chips with acrylics and then brown color with oils. It might be a little heretic to use oils when chipping, but it works for me. Winsor&newton vandyke brown is my choice for color. A few close ups..

That's some good detail painting and weathering Jukka! I like how you sketched the emblem on the side of the turret and then hand painted it. Turned out perfect.

I can't get over the hatch and all the details with the latching mechanism. That had to be REAL "fun" to assemble.
