Claering pantry and freezer before our move next week. Frozen cheese and meat ravioli low boiled to heat thru. 1 " med" bag of frozen " fajita chicken, cooked in an air fryer. 2 jars of store bought marinara. My wife and I love to cook but she works full time and I allegedly make a mess so... anyway hope its good. Just simmering before wife gets home from work. Well nuts, I must have done something to my phone cause my picture wouldn't load. PICTURE.... big pot of raviolis and chicken strips in marinara.

My wife was the chef tonight. Her mom got her a Tagine and a Moroccan Tagine cookbook. This is her Tagine of lamb, zucchini, bell peppers and mint over couscous. Delicious and her presentation looks just like the cookbook photo

I used up the leftover Christmas turkey to make some pot pies. Nothing fancy, store bought pie crust dough, Campbell's cream of chicken soup, and some chopped up vegetables. I also used the turkey carcass and whatever meat I didn't use for the pies to make jook, a rice gruel. Pretty easy stuff - just boil the turkey carcass in broth till the meat falls off, add uncooked rice, boil for another 20 minutes or until the rice is fully cooked, then toss in green onions, fish cake, char siu, ham, ginger, and whatever else catches your fancy. No photos as it looks pretty unappetizing to the uninitiated. But it is delicious and hits the spot on cold days. A "cold day" in Hawaii is 70 degrees F, so please keep the laughter down. My sister made us our traditional fancy Japanese Jan 1st breakfast, with a twist. The "real" osechi-ryori boxes contain a multitude of varied and colorful foods, most of which we detest. So we just substituted things we actually eat.

Pan seared and finished in the oven? Funny - I spent so much time learning to grill and then learned about doing steaks in the oven...

But you’re right about the grill. The grill will add a smokey flavor if using wood or charcoal which can be nice. Propane is equivalent to pan searing followed by some time in the oven.

Chicken curry tonight Delicious. I’ve been eating a version of curry my whole life. My grandmother was Japanese and the Japanese love their curry. Fantastic winter food.

I forgot to add this last week... I smoke a leg of lamb... along with a few potatoes... Good stuff! This looks delicious also. We had sheep for awhile because of 4H so always had some fresh lamb every year. Stupid animals. Best to just eat them and not have to care for them. 😂

Don't forget the wool! makes great sweaters, blankets, knit caps, and socks... If I lived in cooler climes, I wouldn't mind a sheepskin jacket or coat... very useful creatures those sheep

There is meat market over off jackrabbit Road just north of the Gila River that has some fancy meats supposedly. They raise their own Bison there. Now bison is some good eating!!!

I do all the cooking any more. Pretty basic stuff as the missus doesn’t like surprises. I tend to do “Frankenstein-meals” taking what I have on hand and using that. I can eat most anytHing.

Lyle - that's called fusion cuisine

My cousins hunt wild boar - with dogs, bows and knives. No, the dogs just corner the boars. My cousins look nothing like me - kind of like comparing Klingons vs Romulans, despite us being first cousins. The only thing I can catch in the wild is a cold.
