Love the Frank Frazetta artwork. He did all the artwork for Molley Hatchet Album covers back in the day, including this one. The Death Dealer is my favorite and I would love to do a figure of this one day. Looking forward to this one.

Time to post up my kit to get this rolling. I've been flip flopping on what I want to do with this one as far as static or in-flight. I've decided, due to its size that it will be wheels up in-flight and I can hang it to take up less space. So, this is an old Airfix 1/24 Bf-109-E. I got this kit from Art Waugh, aka Goldhammer. (I miss you, Art) It was wet and very moldy, so I tossed the box and washed everything up. The only missing piece is the front half of the pilot. It is not too bad on detail, but needs some help. I do have to find a pilot for this however. Planning on the yellow "1" scheme, yellow nose and mottled fuselage. This should be fun.

Looks like it will be fun, I never met goldhammer, only talked a couple times on FSM. Modelcrazy,(Steve ), was in touch quite often. Hope you enjoy this GB Brandon, no stress or pressure. Please remember to fire up a WIP thread so comments can be direct instead of shuffling through a hundred replies...not that is a bad thing . Now get moving...ya only have 2 1/2 years to finish LOL.

I’m going to call an audible. I just put a pre-order in on this guy, should be arriving sometime May or June. I’m going to bypass the Sd.Kfz. 250 in favor of the 1/16 Sd.Kfz 234/2 Puma.

It was stated in the Chaoses build post of his 1/16 I♡Kit Sherman that this scale is realky taking off. As a topic of this GB, I'm curious if this trend is a flash in the pan or something that will stick around for awhile? My opinion is I like it. 1/35 has some FANTASTIC samples by amazing manufactures, and I hope they keep providing relevant and well engineered kits. That said, my eyes aren't what the used to be, I still have dexterity so small parts aren't a problem quite yet.... These large kits are pretty well detailed and provide a wide range of paint/ weathering options, by hand or airbrush. The huge, pun intended, disadvantage is shelf space, my King Tiger almost requiers it's own garage. Second is price. While some kits you get what you pay for, interiors, metal, working items, however some manufactures simply scale up a hollow kit and bump the price. I do NOT intend to bash, berate, or demean anybody for their scale choices and only post as to start a conversation about the topic.

It's looking like 1/16 is here to stay. I would say that the offerings that were around 15-20 years ago (Tamiya, early Trumpeter) were the "flash in the pan", and now there's enough impetus to make it a mainstream scale.

I sure hope it does, I won't stop my 35th builds however these 16th thingies sure are impressive. So the story behind my King Tiger pictured in " show off the stash"...My brother, a staunch 1/35 German armor specifically Stug IVs built on Wednesday by Gunther with a nine mm wrench, and I took a run to Renton Wa for a Spring show. On the way we were " discussing" 1/16 vs 1/35 builds and how each have their own nuances. After about 4hrs of that I'd had enough, I siad if I say a 1/16 King Tiger with full interior on a vendors table I would buy it..up to my budgeted limit of $500. Low and behold we walk in to the vendor/ contest area and what did my wandering eyes see??? Yeup, that massive beast. I quickly made it mine, not neccessarily because I wanted it but more of a snub to my brother. He proceeded to tell me exactly what I need to do to make the kit right, and since it is so large ANY mistake will simply stick out like a sore thumb. He isn't wrong but just annoys the hell outta me. I started working in it before our move, and of course every step was scrutinized for this that or the other. Parked the kit until I can get past his remarks, y'all know " I don't give a s*** what you think stage" then I'll resume working on it. For the thread I have managed to tune him out on my SdkFz 251/D which is progressing nicely.

Ah, okay, so that was fun...not. The sprues on this kit are not numbered in any sort of order, the numbers are totally randomly placed all over, AND on top of that many of them are printed sideways and upside down. Normally, this is no biggie, you hunt for the shape and find it and verify the number. NOPE, not on this one. The parts in the illustrations DO NOT look too much like the parts you really need, further making finding the correct part that much more difficult. SO, if you have one of these, you've been warned. I took about 1 1/2 hours to go through the instructions, section by section, and pull all the parts off the trees and put them in baggies with all the parts for that step. Sealed the bag, rinse and repeat. This way when I go to work on this I can find my parts and clean them up and assemble. This will help immensely. The bummer here is the one of the lower wing radiator cover panels is missing. UGH, so I can try to find one, good luck, or I'll have to try to scratch one up. I did find one in Great Britain, but with the cost of the part and shipping it's nearly $50 US. I'm not gonna pay that. Fortunately, it is a large part, about 1.25 inches square, and I may have a chance to make it. We'll see. I also need to locate a pilot, seated of course, as I plan on wheels up and in flight. That's not a biggie there. I just need to get one before I finish the pit. So, now that the fun of this part is over, I will move on to other things.

I left a popular forum dedicated to armour after it being repeatedly asserted that I was just a kit builder not to "true" modeler since I would not move the bolts molded on a glacis plate over 1MM to where they "should be".

Ah yes, perfection correction. I never understood that. When I build a model I figure it is good when someone, mostly me, can simply glance at it and say "hey that's a ....." When you recognize what it is at a glace and the "errors" are not horrific, I'm good.

I'm thinking maybe the figure market has edged that along, too. Forever we've had decent figures that could have used a chunk of armor nearby, but not much available. It's great to see so many options now, Ruck On!
