The recovery efforts on the chevron and balkenkreuz turned out VERY well Dave. Good grief man......this thing has been giving you some fits but every time it does you just blow right through it like it was nuthin. Excellent rebound efforts!!

The fits this kit has given me have been unusual to say the least. I’m trying to apply them as life lessons. That is sort out the problem. Don’t launch it into your neighbors yard. Though I was tempted a couple of times.

Call it the learning curve to the "Border Way of Doing Things". I'll get some pics up shortly on the beginnings of the base work. Cheers Dave

I think they did the 109 first - been looking at it for some time for a special project (whoops... page 1 response...)
Looking fantastic!

The other day, I got started on the beginnings of base work. It's not a terribly big base, but it's not tiny either. I wanted to create a base that accommodates the Stuka and pilot figure, without having to fill up a bunch of empty space. Hence, the shape of the base. The base ground is AK Dark Earth. The resin figure came with the kit. I am glad that it did, as it will give a sense of scale of this beastie. Heck! How many of us have seen a real live Stuka? Sorry for the macabre headless pilot. Just trying to get a feel of where to place him. This was the best closeup that the digicam could muster for the pilots head. The toothpick at the bottom of the pic will give a sense of scale for the head.
Cheers Dave

I think they did the 109 first - been looking at it for some time for a special project (whoops... page 1 response...) Looking fantastic! Thank you kindly! Border has great detail and above average engineered parts. The color call outs (or lack thereof) leave a bit to be desired. Also, transposed callouts for exterior colors. So, check your references. The decals can be tricky to work with. They are not the worst, but they can be tricky (ie thin and awfully fragile). Take your time with it, and it will result in an impressive build. I am looking forward to seeing your 109! Cheers Dave

Thanks for the notes. Haven't picked up the kit yet. I have an ancient 1/32 Revel 109F, but 1/35 will be better
Nice looking figure. Pilot looks like Rudel.

Just trying to pay the lessons forward for others. Sometimes those older kits are great for testing out new skill sets or, stretching them. I do believe that’s who it’s supposed to represent, since the only two markings I. The kit are of Rudel’s birds

Cheers Dave Coming along well Dave. That pilot figure will indeed give a sense of just how big this bird was. I've never seen a Stuka in real life before but I most certainly would like to. Dude.......that is just CRAZY cool. You're gonna have to let me know when there's a thread on that John.

The figure is perfect for this! Funny I thought of your Stuka yesterday when I was shopping at a local club member's huge garage sale.

Those 37mm guns add such a sinister look to an already evil looking aircraft. This one is going to finish up in VERY good fashion Dave. WOW!!!!
