No point in letting the bench cool off from the last build. With all of the Stukas I've seen built of late, I opted to start in on my Border kit. The instructions are pretty straight forward. Paint call outs are only for the exterior. Nothing on the interior. Odd! Anywho, the initial steps are for the Junker Jumo 211. So far, it is seemingly well engineered. There is an option for standard or extended wing tips, though the paint call out does not show them. Time to do some homework...
A quarter for scale. For those of you who don't use quarters, the squares are one inch on a side.
Thank you for looking. Cheers Dave

Bookmarked! I've been looking at a few of the Border offerings out there with interest. They look like great kits so this should be great to watch come together with your "touches" to it

The detail on them is pretty darn good. We shall see about the fit. So far the Jumo 211 has had no surprises for me.

Hell yeah... count me in too!!! I have been torn about getting this kit especially that I am a huge fan of Stukas but I am trying to stay within 1/48 scale... damn my OCD! I read a lot of comments that Me-109 by Border is a disaster but nothing bad about Ju-87s so far.

That being said, I’ve had a few 1/32 kit’s creep into the stash. I’ll build them…no idea where I’ll put them when I’m done.

Nice! A big Stuka.! I've been eyeballing their 109 kit for a special project. Just two weeks shy of the BSGB.

Nice! A big Stuka.! I've been eyeballing their 109 kit for a special project. Just two weeks shy of the BSGB. It's a beast. I just sized up the 1/35 cowling next to the 1/35 Hetzer I just finished up. Holy smokes! The cowl is HUGE! I was thinking of throwing my hat into the ring for the BSGB, but I was thinking of building something else for that.

I've got skill sets that help, and the work has been done well (i.e. to my liking), and I've saved a bunch in labor costs. That being said, there will not be huge mondo projects this next year. There were be several smaller ones, but I would like to enjoy the spring and summer.

And THAT is why I would fold the wings! My last several Navy/Marine build have had their wings stowed for just that reason. Plus, it just looks cool. I've got an E-2C in 1/48 that will be built in just that manner.

I've not seen this kit yet but have heard good things about these guys kits. That folded wing Stuka looks pretty snazzy. Are there any wing fold kits available for Stukas out there? I'm SO looking forward this this Dave.

I'm SO looking forward this this Dave. I've found a couple of mislabeled parts in the instructions, but if one takes their time, it can easily be sorted out. I am not aware of any wing fold kits for the Stuka. Glad to have you along Joe.

Last night at the bench was a lesson is control of ones self. I decided to get some work done on the wing, since I realized that the kit offering for harnesses is woefully inadequate. I've got a set coming from HGW. So, Ive got both port and starboard wings mounted to the center section. The extended wing tips for the G2 are on. It's impressive, as the span is a tick over 19 inches. Here I am all impressed with how this massive wing looks, and I push back from the bench. As I do so, the wing catches my hand (still trying to figure that one out), and the wing skitters to the ground as I am backing up. The wing gets caught under the caster, and is dragged about an inch. It felt like several yards at that point, because I can hear the sound of plastic being scrapped along concrete. Knowing full well what is happening to the plastic, along with all of that exquisite detail that is being obliterated. I dropped a series of F Bombs along the way. I then immediately got to work formulating a plan to fix the carnage. The detail repair is planned out. I have several hand made tools I've not used in a while, but will work perfectly for just such repairs. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Here, I've already sanded down the proud plastic down.
Bondo to the rescue!

Delays, delays...I did not know Border was molding AC. I did their Panzer IV F2 awhile back and while a bit fussy was very well molded and went together without excess fuss.
Looks like excellent surface detail
