Rest and heal, brother! You done real good with that cockpit. I think the silver/66/dark wash effect works well! It’s always a shame to see such a beautiful level of detail get shoehorned into the fuselage body but the pics are super! Suggest you shoot the cockpit when it’s finished against a plain backing before you close it up if possible. That much goodness deserves a special photo! TGIF

I'll do just that with the cockpit when it's all said and done. As for the recovery....NO PROBLEM. lol

Over the course of the last few days I've been putting these fabric seat belts from HGW together and I've gotta say that I'm impressed with them. Not only do they look a lot more realistic than the PE ones that I've seen (and used), but they can also be lain pretty much any way you want them. I laid these out in a bit of a non-traditional way that I've done in the past so a lot more of the details on them can be seen and for a more natural "lay". So far....

Great harness set Joe! I love the way the fabric belts settle in the seat with such a nature look to them. Stellar work!

Joe, my friend, good to hear you are getting better! Thank you Lyle. Had a few issues at first but have been getting better every day. Joe - Good to see you back at the bench brother. Front office looks beautiful. Just take it little by little. -Bob Thanks Bob!! So far so good. Those frickin' belts were definitely a test of my patience but were worth the work. Great harness set Joe! I love the way the fabric belts settle in the seat with such a nature look to them. Stellar work! Thanks Brent!! I'll be going with this type of belt in the future on aircraft builds where they are available. Man I do like the way that harness lays about Right?! Just trying something different this time around Johnny. Thank you for the good word bud.

I love progress, Joe. Yours is coming along nicely! Thanks Gil. Hopefully the good fortune continues on this one. I've now moved on to the powerplant section of this build for now because I'm going to have to get the fit right with this before I close the fuselage halves together. I built up the OOB Dragon Jumo 213 along with the 213 from Zoukei-Mura and set out the Aires 213 next to them. I've got them all next to one another in the following photo to check the difference in dimensions as well as to show the differences in details from one kit to the next because they are dramatically different. Dimensionally, the ZM version is only slightly larger and has a TON more detail than either the Dragon OR the Aires version. I'm really wanting to use the ZM 213 in this build provided that it will fit in there. I'll be test fitting things soon to find out what my real options are. If the ZM wont work then I'll use the Airies offering as it's next in line for detail. Left to right. Dragon, Zoukei-Mura and Aires.

Oh man. That offering from ZM sure is nice!! I can see why you’d want to use that if you can shoehorn it down in there. Looking forward to seeing it with a powerplant no matter what.

I'm going to start a mock build up after a couple of adjustments to make sure she'll fit and then I'll know for sure. Thanks Kyle.

Decisions decisions.... Interested to hear what fits and what doesn't and why. Seems the pedestal I put ZM kits on might have been premature with the fitment issues we have seen here as of late.

Joe - ZM is the better offering and agree ZM first, then Aries. Drop the dDragon in the poop box.

I don't think there's as many problems with the 1/32 scale stuff Brent. I'm looking forward to this part of the build....I can tell ya that! lol Joe - ZM is the better offering and agree ZM first, then Aries. Drop the dDragon in the poop box. -Bob Thanks Bob! Thanks for the laugh too! Looking good Joe! Looking forward to you shoe horning that Jumo in place. Thanks Dave! I'm hoping it goes relatively smooth.

My time has been VERY limited at the bench and on posting here as of late because there is a ton of stuff going on behind the curtain but I did manage to shoehorn the ZM engine into place using the Dragon engine mounts and firewall parts.

A nice bit of kitbashing going on in a rather confined space. Well done. I hope you are feeling better. I back tracked on this build and read about your procedure. A apt description with the soldering iron analogy.

Great job with the modifications to fit the ZM engine, Joe! I love combining the best parts from different kits as well. Looks so much better, and not something that you'll see in every build.

Great you got one of them to fit Joe! Are you leaving cowls off or closing it up altogether?
