Ok gang, It took me a LOT of thought on my decision to arrive at this build. First, I was going to go with the newly released IBG 1/72 Fw190 D-9 but there's no engine cowlings or engine firewalls available for that one yet (hopefully they are coming because I do want to try my hand at a 1/72nd scale build), then there was the 1/48 ZM Ta-152 that I've got in the stash but the wing span on that bad boy is more than I have room in my display case for currently, then there was the Eduard 1/48 Fw190 that I've had in the stash for a LONG while now but I wanted to build something different in the Kurt Tank lineup. That lead to me selecting one of the first in the Ta-152 series....the C-0 version with a shorter wingspan. Cool lookin' aircraft too. I'll be going with this one from Dragon and will end up opening it all up to display the engine and maybe an open panel .....or two. I've gotta get my Vette finished up from the Red Hot & Rollin' GB and I'll be getting right on this one hopefully within the month.

I confess - I don't know what makes a Ta-152 a 152 vs a D-9?

I confess - I don't know what makes a Ta-152 a 152 vs a D-9? Something to do with a switch in nomenclature for aircraft companies and their designers. Like how the Bf- family aircraft later became Me- types after Willi Messerschmitt, the Fw- designators became Ta- after Kurt Tank.

I confess - I don't know what makes a Ta-152 a 152 vs a D-9? The 152 fuselage is longer with a wider wingspan, the tail is longer especially at the top and iirc the 152 had hydraulic flaps and under carriage controls vs electric on the D-9

Joe Obviously I'm somewhat disappointed in you abandoning your choice from the one true scale of 1/72 but it is is your GB after all..... Seriously though looking forward to seeing this come together. Not many members of the other forum i am on do opened up builds, so will be interesting to see how you approach it. Good luck with the build. Andrew

The earlier 152s before the H used a standard 190 wing.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the engine was also changed for the Ta series. Regardless, I will be watching to see how DML's kit builds up.

Awesome choice my man. Although I am hugely disappointed that you will not be able to take on your first 1/72, this will do nicely. I'm anxious to watch you build this as this is the grown up version of their 1/72 which I considered building. You will do this some righteous justice for sure. This I know. Got you bookmarked Bro.

I really am going to Andy. I'm already getting a big enough smile watching all of these ongoing 190 builds going on right now. Truly awesome sight to see.

I picked up a few more things for this build and I'll probably be getting started on this one pretty soon now since I'm down to the short-short list on the Vette. All I've gotta say is this......THIS kit better not be as difficult to build as that Vette was. I can't go through that again....

Ya know..... .... Joe Rix is gonna laugh his off when he reads what I'm about to put out there. I swear.......there is not a single model I can touch that does NOT require a total revamp of what's already there. I'm going to build this.... that much is true BUT to make this a C-0, Dragon supplies a separate Ta-152 C-0 nose in the kit. The H-1 nose has to be cut from the fuselage and the C-0 nose put in place. There's also engine mounts and a firewall so to speak that's in the C-0 kit but where's the engine??!! I'll tell ya where the engine is.....it's in the frickin' Dragon H-1 kit...that's where!! So.......I've now bought the Ta-152H kit so I can have an engine that will fit the engine mounts provided in the C-0 kit. Don't tell me these guys don't know what they're doin' when it comes to getting you to fork out the extra money to piece things together. It's on it's way as we speak:

What's wrong with OOB Joe? Welp....it turns out that the engine in the H series is a Jumo 213. The C-0 got the DB603. Looks like this one's gonna get built with the engine bay all buttoned up. Looks like I jumped the gun on that but I got another H-1 in the stash out of the deal anyways.

I built the Hobbyboss C-1 a few years back. These look great next to the 190’s. Looking forward to seeing this.
