Wow! It's been a bit since I checked in and I find that you have been one busy boy. Absolutely terrific craftsmanship. Appears that you are getting things how you want them for the most part. I've often considered building some sort of paint rack, but I have so many that in the end it is just easier for me to keep them organized in cabinet drawers. All your work is paying off handsomely James. Thanks Joe! Appreciate the kind words. I think the best part of making stuff yourself, is that you get to make it specifically for what you need. Awesome work. Can you post pictures of the gaming table when it's done? Thank you! Sure, I can do that!

I can tell you are an experienced wood worker because you use pencils and draw lines. That's far too advanced for a caveman like me. Great work, Sir! Dont tell anyone, but I draw lines to help avoid additional math. I should measure and create cut lists, but who has the time to do things the right way! So, I filled er' up with paint this morning.. I'm not sure I am feelin it. I clearly didn't plan this out enough. While it technically does the job (holds paint) its going to be annoying getting them out. But, I could just be patient, pull out the colors I need, place them in that center area and pull when needed. I mean.. It does look nice. It holds every Jar of paint I have which is crazy its like EXACTLY the right size. So hopefully I don't need anymore haha. This strikes me as something that would benefit greatly by being transparent. Personally it would also take me about 48 hours to make it unusable by filling that flat center area with stuff "temporarily" (in other words until it irritated me enough to either clean up or rebuild). I've often thought a well designed multi layer lazy susan could make a nice corner paint rack.

When the table is finished I will determine what shall be done. Keep it or toss it. Speaking of tables... I made a small temporary workbench year ago and salvaged the legs when I got rid of it. Im glad I did because they will be the legs for our new table. They jsut need a bit of work. Brought this out to square of material before running it through the table saw again. And now we are all square and ready to mount Painted the table top with the oil based primer so the MDF would not swell up. I WAS going to lay down some black laminate on top but decided that was too expensve for a garage table. Jsut gonna paint this and move on. And just dry fitting the legs and runners,.. skirts? whatever you call them. I think we will go with 1/2 dowels to connect them.

Looks like you got yourself a nice space to work also. Beautiful work TJ. It is too bad, I think I could have learned a lot from you. My woodwork is not at that level yet.

This was one of my better projects. I'm no furniture builder. I make way to many mistakes. Union Jack is partially Maiden and partially I'm British. I also have another Union Jack in other corner opposite this one

It was nice weather finally so I could work with the garage open. Figured I would try and knock out this table once and for all. Unfortunately that didn't happen but we did get close! Started making table base. Put two coats of this interior house paint on the top. Was a little concerned about the texture from the roller I used, but this paint dried much flatter so I think its perfect.. I tried to put the plastic end banding around the table top, but apparently I didnt route a deep enough groove so I will have to give it a second pass.

Coming along nicely, I like the color you used for the bench top. Are you going to seal that with anything?

Coming along nicely, I like the color you used for the bench top. Are you going to seal that with anything? Probably not. It has a MDF specific primer plus two coats of this thick paint. Plus Ill have my cut mats on top of this.

got the T trim glued in. was easy to snip away some of the material to make the bends, but I think I rounded the corners of the table to small. Its not perfect but it looks good. Sorry, no painting photos. I was dodging rain clouds all day pulling this thing in and out so we will have to just enjoy the install and set up photos. Its a basic table but dern it if I am not super proud of my little space. Next up is an upper cabinet for storage to clean up the garage. Im also going to nail some peg board pieces on the left side legs of the table to I can hang some stuff. Gotta utilize every sq. ft!

Good n' sturdy table with all the necessities at hand James. What's the usual temperature in the garage? Being in SF I can't imagine that it gets as sweltering as Corpus does.

Funny - it never gets hot in SF. I grew up just outside of Sacramento and we would go to SF quite a bit. The joke is everyone from out of state thinks their going to sunny warm California when the visit SF and they all go home with a Golden Gate sweat shirt lol.

Nice job on the table. I admire your skills. Thanks! Woodwork can be easier than you might think with the right tools and some patience. That table looks fantastic. Keep it coming this is great Thanks TJ! I have more stuff planned. Specifically the cabinet above for storage, a paint shelf, and I think I am going to redo the or repurpose the angled box I made on top of the desk. Its too hard getting the paint out haha. Good n' sturdy table with all the necessities at hand James. What's the usual temperature in the garage? Being in SF I can't imagine that it gets as sweltering as Corpus does. Thanks Joe! Im actually about 35 miles south of SF. Winter nights it will get in the low 50's in the garage. Its partially insulated I think. I should insulate the garage door it would help a lot. Summer time in my area id say the avg would be high 80' slow 90's with the occasional week or so in the 100's. This is why I moved to a different spot in the garage. I was right up next to the garage door so summertime it was not comfortable. Nothing at all like Texas. I have family in Alan, and Richardson and I've been to Texas in August. Not fun haha. We lived in San Mateo for a few years because of my job. Im not a fan of the heat. I also spent a couple summers in Elk Grove. Have a lot of friends in Sac and we visit 2-3 times a year.

There is the famous quote from Mark Twain “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco” That is just the coast in general though. It can be 100+ at my house, but I can drive an hour to the coast (only about 30 miles by air) where it is 60 degrees, foggy and I need a coat.

I was attempting to clean up the garage today, and while taking apart the old table legs I thought I could repurpose them. Ill give this a try for a while. Its much easier to grab each color now.
