I decided to start on this yesterday and put to Stuka aside until the harnesses arrive. This is my first Zoukei-Mura kit, and I must say that I am enjoying it. It'll be OOB. No AM will be used. One could get AM for this kit, but it is not necessary. This will be kind of a photo dump to start with. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/pXxQ0NQ7/IMG-2500.jpg) All of the work on the CP was yesterday evening for a couple of hours. Mostly checking out the instructions and seeing how the sprues match up with the instructions. The instructions, so far, are quite nice to work with. I like how they did the cover for the instructions. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/yN9k4xsT/fullsizeoutput-de5.jpg) Some assembly was done yesterday, but the remainder and all of the painting and weathering was done this afternoon. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/RCPCYKwB/IMG-2508.jpg) ![](https://i.postimg.cc/j5xKgS52/fullsizeoutput-deb.jpg)
You have two options with the seat. One without harnesses and one with. For molded on harnesses, it is pretty good. I did some undercutting along the edge of the harnesses with a fine pin to give some relief. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/W4PsZncM/IMG-2509.jpg) The instrument faces will be individual decals. You have the option of using two decals for the IP. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/Kj4bbpty/IMG-2510.jpg) ![](https://i.postimg.cc/rsbkwG9R/IMG-2511.jpg) Chipping and weathering. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/sXTztCQc/IMG-2514.jpg) ![](https://i.postimg.cc/5NYJkGxB/IMG-2515.jpg) Included are the two fuselage fuel tanks, and the WM tank behind the CP. Not sure how visible they'll be, but if one were inclined to open this beast up, they are there. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/kMh9s9dM/IMG-2516.jpg)
Well, that's it for the first installment of this build. Thank you for having a gander. Cheers Dave

These ZM kits are a real treat, especially in 1/32 scale in that these guys really don’t leave a stone unturned in terms of detail. As you said, there’s no real need for AM as everything is pretty much already there. Great start up on that pit Dave.

As you said, there’s no real need for AM as everything is pretty much already there. Great start up on that pit Dave. I now have several of their offerings in the stash. Not sure where I'll display them. ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) That's a later problem. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) With just the base kit alone, one could go hog wild with building options. I am understanding that Bob (M1Carbine) is having a few issues with his 1/48 scale ZM kit. I'll have a gander at the one in my stash.

The instrument panel is completed and now mounted to the cockpit assembly. The instrument faces are all individual decals. I got them all to snuggle down with liberal use of Walthers Solvaset. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/R0c5FYSx/IMG-2517.jpg) ![](https://i.postimg.cc/NMBhrxF9/IMG-2518.jpg)

That pit is looking VERY good Dave. As others have said in their build threads of these, it's really too bad that there's not going to be just a whole lot of that panel that can be seen. Maybe in the larger 1/32 scale you'll be able to see more.

Back to the group build already in progress. The Stuka build is on hold until my ground work order comes in at my LHS. I am still thinking I may leave one part of the cowl off to display the engine. We shall see how the build shapes up when I get there. Until then, progress has been made. The engine has received a base coat and top coat. The base coat is Vallejo Duraluminum, and the top coat is Mission Models NATO Black. No weathering as yet has been done. If it looks like I'll be able to display the engine to some extent, then I'll weather it. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/Qt4JZ9K7/IMG-2560.jpg) ![](https://i.postimg.cc/7Lq3CMg7/IMG-2561.jpg) ![](https://i.postimg.cc/YS81QG3P/IMG-2562.jpg) ![](https://i.postimg.cc/WbJ6x4ND/IMG-2563.jpg) ![](https://i.postimg.cc/Vkq9LHbm/IMG-2564.jpg) ![](https://i.postimg.cc/jS0QTr2M/IMG-2565.jpg) The engine is only dry fitted here. So far, it seems to be fitting together rather nicely. The red along the aft end is not filler. I picked up some Ammo tinted glue. I has helped me in the glueing of some precise fitments, as there are some areas I wasn't sure if the glue had gotten to or not. This took the guesswork out of it. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/MZBmFTKn/IMG-2567.jpg)
Again, only dry fitting going on here. Well, the wing fillets are glued in place. I ended up dry fitting the leading edge on to the wing, and revealed an area that needed some tending to. You can see the rib where the spar terminates at. It turns out the the wing is just a bit too thick along that area where the spar is. The leading edge part is a bit tight, and there is a step up from the bottom edge of it to the bottom wing panel immediately behind it. With some careful filing, the fit has improved, but required a bit more tending to to get the fit just right. For myself, I'd rather it be removing material than having to build it up. The wingspan is around 18 inches. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/dtKjPYL4/IMG-2568.jpg)
Cheers Dave

I think it would be great to make the engine visible because it really has very nice details and it would be a shame to hide it. Glad to see it back on the bench now!
